So anyway..tonight will not be a very pleasant night because I have a 1600 word essay to complete with a chem lab report to follow..but all I can do is do my best and get it done! And even after that it's not over yet..but in any case I am aiming for the day where I will never have to think of anything towards school/college applications again! >.< And the day where I can finally talk to you all, draw, daydream, play piano, sing, golf, and be with my family in peace without a care in the world!

Hello everyone!! It's been a little while, huh? I officially got started up on drawing again and did some practicing and worked on some art today~ I just have to finish this commish and then this other picture and I'll be all set! ^^
So goodness what to say about school...well it's been pretty rough so far even though it's only been 2 weeks! Golf practice started last week(or this week...whichever you prefer xD), and my word practices go LATE! I don't get home until 6:30pm monday-thursday now T__T And plus the course isn't exactly close to my house either...but nonetheless if I'm gonna be captain and dedicated to the team, I've gotta do what I've gotta do, right?
Which reminds me though(please be warned, mini story up ahead), I am not so comfortable around my coach as of this week...I've known her since 4th grade or so but lately she has gotten really personal about things with me. And not in a good way. *sigh* The other day on Thursday(since she drives me home from practice), she asked me how my summer was and apparently my mom told her about my grandmothers passing away AND my neighbor passing away PLUS the argument I had with my parents right before I left Korea..and she just kept barreling me with questions about it and reminding me about such terrible and depressing things. At first it was just "so what did you guys argue about?" and then when I told her "just family matters and school" and she was like "and why are we arguing about matters like those?" and I said I wasn't sure but that it was mostly from SAT stress and she then went on to ask "and why are we getting into arguments over disagreements on SAT prep that's supposed to be good for you?" and obviously she wasn't aware of the 6-10 hours that my dad made me do and wanted me to do, so I told her and she was like "and why are we making a big deal about SAT prep and being recognized by parents when my parents didn't recognize me even when they died and I had back to back designer school classes?" Agh and she always asks questions with the "and why are we etc etc" like as if she was THERE, and we even got into a slight argument ourselves because I almost snapped when she said "well honey, they are the ones paying the bills. and if your dad says 6-10 hours of SAT, you'd better do it because if you live under their roof, it's their rules." But that wasn't even the worst bit, she even went on to say "And I think what's really causing the argument between your parents is this. (and she points to me while she's driving) You aren't appreciating your culture and you don't UNDERSTAND your culture either. If you live in a korean house with korean parents then you'd better learn to accept the korean culture with it. And look at this, you probably wouldn't be unable to speak korean right now if you actually DID appreciate your culture like your parents want you to."
Now this slightly annoyed me because it's not like she's lived in my house since she's known me and seen all that's happened to me for my whole life either. It's not MY fault NOR my parents' fault that I don't know how to speak korean fluently. In fact, I don't know if you guys knew this, but they didn't WANT to stress my speaking korean at home because they didn't want to make the same mistake with me as they did with my sister. Because when SHE got to the States, she was so stressed and almost in completely culture shock because she didn't know how to communicate with anyone at school in english, and she didn't really even have any friends because of this until late middle school and high school(which was like 6 years later). So when I entered elementary school, they made sure to try and speak English at home with me at least until I got the hang of it before switching out to speaking korean AND english at home; that way I wouldn't experience the same kind of culture shock my sister did. And my coach TOTALLY did not know this and it just upset me that she pretended to know everything that has happened to me and about what my parents wanted for me and she doesn't. *sigh* I just..it was really difficult getting barreled with these questions especially they were all about REALLY personal things that I didn't want to be reminded of AND she was accusing me of not appreciating my parents or my culture enough. I didn't really answer about half the questions but when I gave obscure answers, she'd just ask why I wasn't being respectful and not answering... as if I wasn't shaken up by the subject already OTL.
But in any case, I was remembering what you all told me while she was saying these things to me and I just reminded myself during that whole time that what she says isn't 100% true. I understand that she might have had it tough in her life and she never even BOTHERED to question her parents because she thought it'd be futile. She even told me "why are you trying so hard to get your parents to recognize you? If they aren't now, they probably won't change, and won't EVER change. You're just being stubborn, and an idiot too, at that." And she even said that while my friend was in the backseat of the car....
But anyway, I remembered what you all told me from before. I'm not stubborn, although I can be, I admit, but if anything I'm just PERSISTENT. My logic is that persistence and determination leads to success. A person that really works hard at a skill can outdo someone with talent in that skill that is lazy and does absolutely nothing. And I BELIEVE that I can get my parents to see how hard I've worked one day, even though my coach, sadly, didn't attempt to give herself that opportunity. I already think I'm on that road actually, especially after clearing up some of the misunderstandings I had with my dad after that horrendous argument. But yes, never put your hand out to have your head cut off. That's what I thought to myself and I knew that in that situation I just really had to trust myself and not listen to what she was saying, but at the same time be sure to know where she's coming from with her position and perspective. And although I cried that day because the terrible memories she reminded me of came flooding back, I knew I was a bit stronger because I was able to perservere through it all and still believe in myself without letting her words bring me down in full. So again I wanted to thank you guys SO much for that. You all REALLY have no idea how your words helped me that day! =) *super hugs you all*
And lucky me since it's a 3 day weekend I have work to do BUT not as much as usual and I can draw for certain! ^^ I think I'll be livestreaming my coloring process for my latest pic(which currently has major anatomy problems so I'll be working on that xD)~ so yeah I'll be sure to let you guys know maybe a day or two ahead of time before I begin! I'll be aiming to start coloring this weekend probably haha.

*laughs* Is it even possible to have an enemy here? The community is so tight-knit, I'm pretty close to everyone even if I haven't talked to them. I pretty much recognize almost every name I see in the fanart section and sometimes even the other sections too nowadays xD I do have some sort of ill feelings towards people who's methods I don't agree with, but I usually disregard these feelings because only my friends and the wonderful people here are the ones that matter. =)

If you saw my influence map on DA, you'd probably know who xD But for now, I'll be keeping my favorite artist a secret. ^^
And I don't even know if I should even bothering mentioning how much I admire my friends because of how wonderful and supportive they are! Not just for their amazing creations, but also for their absolutely caring hearts!

10/24/06- Ten days after my birthday after I saw art from my favorite artist and several of my friends from my reallyy old theOtaku circle(Sora_Hanaki, Cherryshock, and Kokkoii-Matoku xD).

I wouldn't rather be at any other place than here! DA and Gaia, sure, but I will never be as active there as I am here. The community and the people here are just so wonderful and I find it much harder to feel that in full in big places like DA and Gaia.

Sayura-chan(I think I've adopted the honorific on the end of my name now..it didn't used to be like that when I first joined xDD), Riiya for some, Hyunji for others(but very few...mostly like..Korean people I know on here hahaha)

Comment when I absolutely can, post on my world like once a week, and browse all the sections! The community, hands down. It's so close here, and I always feel really comfortable...never overwhelmed like the atmosphere at DA. So that makes me happy ^^ And especially all of the wonderful people here I've met and gotten to know!<333
22. Something you HATE about theO?
Well there isn't anything I really HATE about theOtaku..I think there are just some minor things in the systme that could be changed probably. I am still a bit concerned about the popularity system though...so many wonderful artists are out there that just don't get recognized because of the system here.
23. Something you wish you could change?
I'm gonna have to say the Featured Fandom as well. It definitely should be more like DA with the Daily Deviations so more than one art could be featured AND for those that don't get noticed in ANY section to get some attention that much deserve! I know this may sound hypocritical considering how blah I can be about DA, but really I do like that part of the system that they have there.

Haha I guess I can say I am! Mostly because many of the popular artists only sub back to a few people that subscribe to them, but I'm VERY happy that I pretty much know almost everyone that has subscribed to me! ^^ It's great to know that I have so many friends =)

Yep, Sayura-chan is my most common nickname haha and I've even been called Sayura-san but never the others. I do use honorifics because for me it's kind of natural(since I do have relatives in Japan after all).

I'm part japanese so yeah I'd better know what they are xD Japanese honorifics, of course. And if there is anyone on theOtaku that doesn't know what this is, I will be VERY surprised.

Well..kinda everyone really xD The people I talk to the most though are usually the people that PM me really frequently and especially people that contact me outside of theOtaku.

Hello there everyone!! Goodness it has been a busy past few days! I have just returned from taking my Senior Photos, and my goodness was it an experience! I thought it would be incredibly awkward but I was actually having somewhat of a good time ^^ The photographers really helped in making the atmosphere much more comfortable haha<3 Oh and I even got to see some of my close friends there which also made the experience so much more fun!
On that note though, I am still in disbelief about being a senior in high school! I still even have my sister's senior photos haha. I really hope the photos turned out well but more importantly I've got work to do and a new year to look forward to! ^^ I'm actually kind of excited to start school and see all of my friends again on Monday!
I went to Freshman Orientation yesterday to recruit some new golf players for the team and it actually went pretty okay ^^ Only 2 players but considering that it's golf, well I think that's pretty good! haha<3 And we are a strong team so I am sure we will be alright! *nods* It was interesting to see all of the freshman come in though...it makes me not want to grow up but at the same time I also want to see what kind of surprises life has in store for me!(Oh and with my new iPhone 3G S with texting!<333)
Also, today at driving practice(yes...I go everyday xD), I was terribly ridiculous and lacking common sense and I felt absolutely horrible. I almost got me and my mom into an accident! T__T I know you are always supposed to stop at red but since you are able to take right turns on red when there are no cars coming then I thought I could just make the turn...but there WERE cars coming and I was confused because I thought I had the right of way but that was not the case >.< *only has 2.5 weeks of driving practice*
I even said sorry but she and my dad got mad at me for saying sorry because they thought that I was apologizing for not being perfect, but actually I was apologizing for almost getting my mom into an accident! *sigh* And of course I am misinterpreted again... well in any case it was an experience to learn from and now I know for sure that I must be even MORE careful than I was then whenever I drive in the future.
Now here's the important part I wanted to tell you all about.
I haven't posted art since...June, I believe? That picture of Itou was my last pic for a long while and since then believe it or not I haven't drawn any full-fledged color pictures at all. Only sketches for a gaia temp shop I'm doing and I'm currently in the progress on drawing one full-color illustration for an auction prize..which I haven't started on yet because of my parents constantly over my shoulder saying "you're spending too long on something that isn't your priority"...(hence why I'm only limited to sketches T__T)
I've come up with a schedule that allows me to draw for an hour a day or so however...
it requires that I take up my plan.
I'm not sure how many of you will like this because the few that I've told so far didn't like one aspect of it and that's the fact that...
well, you won't be seeing my art for a long time.
I've decided that I'm going to take a longggg hiatus.
I've been thinking about this for about 3 months actually, since exams started in May and all of that terrible stuff was happening with the deaths of both of my grandmothers and while I was in Korea.
That was when I really started to see how fast my friends were improving.
And I'm not going to lie, I really really really got jealous, and in a way I still kind of am...sooo many of you have improved your skills so much, whether it be art, e-card or wallpaper making, or even your writing! It's like everyone is improving so much at what they are doing...and I feel like I am going absolutely no where. Mostly because I focus too much on the WORTH of my art it seems..for instance.
On Gaiaonline people can commission you gaia gold to get art, yes? Well some people's art, as you know, is worth far more than others..and it just so happens that it's become that way with me and my friends and well..rather than being put down by it, it's pushed me more to want to become better. Without having any attachments put on my art besides my love for it and maybe you guys's love for it too.
I'm going to be going away from here, deviantart, and gaiaonline for a long time so I can improve my art. I have never once been told by someone other than my friends that they have admired me/my art and have been inspired by me...not even by my parents. I want to hear that from someone..since my friends seem to get it so often. And I not only want recognition from others but also self-recognition..because I'm not satisfied with my progress either.
And I know it's not even my fault really because of the heinous amount of homework and such that I have to put up with, but what they always say to make time if you want something that badly. And despite my parents always telling me how unimportant art is compared to my studies, I want them to recognize me and I want someone to recognize me besides you all who are my friends. I'm SO grateful for all of the people that stick behind me and support my work<333 you guys are honestly the ones that keep me drawing, my friends! But I need to be able to be proud of myself..and even if it means just getting one random comment from someone I don't know telling me that I am one of their favorite artist's ever, that would honestly mean the world to me and let me know that I have progressed in my art. I want to be able to see my progress with my own eyes, and that's what this hiatus is for.
Not because of school work. Not because I don't care for you all. Because I want to. I want to get better. My favorite artist on this site..you don't know who you are and you will probably never see or know this but I desperately want to be on your level or better someday and I will work hard to make that happen!
My friends...who are all creators of art, e-cards...wallpapers, whatever it is that you do! You are ALL my favorite artists, and don't forget that ever! If I see any of you give up, I swear I will do all I can in my power to see your work again! *nods* I want to be on that same plane as the rest of you! Improving so much...I am just so impressed with you guys, you won't believe how much all of you inspire me everyday with your works.
Now this doesn't mean that I'm not going to post on my World or anything and stop commenting! LOL. I will be keeping up with everything on here, I promise. The only thing that I will not be keeping up with is my art-posting/selling on sites. I am going to cut off art trades and challenges except maybe one or two during this improvement period.
When I feel that I am good enough, I will come back to posting on here. It'll be hard to do that...but I swear that I want to get better and show you all what I am able to do with dedication and lots of practice. I want to come back and have you all completely blown away...and for myself to be able to see a noticeable difference...that would mean more than the world to me.
So aside from like..1-2 artworks I have yet to post on here, there won't be anything more for a long while. After discussing it and thinking it over, I've come to that conclusion and I know some of you will be like what on earth at me for this, but I need to get away from this idea of "worth" being attached to my art aside from my love for it. I should do it because I love it and because it is something I want to get better at, not because I care about how much someone will "pay" me for it or whether I'll get X amount of votes/comments on it or not(although views are more important to me, hugs/faves are still a sign of worth that I ought to get away from for a while). I don't think I've felt that true love for my art really in like..4 years or something =/ I've lost it..and I've only been able to feel it maybe once or twice since. Look at my portfolio..you will see that practically everything in it isn't even for me. Even pictures of my characters were often requests from friends that were eager to see the designs or for Gaia auctions etc. And don't get me wrong, I love drawing gifts because it makes the other person SO happy<333 but I realize that in doing that I also keep myself from being FULLY happy. This was really my fault in wanting to do all of these things, but now is the time to fix it.
I hope none of you are upset with me. And if you are, I'll understand since many of you guys keep saying I should post more because you love my work, but I hope you understand my view on this and why I'm deciding to do this. Lol I even expect to lose some more subscribers during the wait. I promise I won't be away forever, but more importantly I PROMISE to get better! Not just as a promise to myself, but as a promise to you all! So you will have to a while longer to see my art again >.<
I will be on here almost everyday to check up on you guys, don't worry. ^^ And I'll be posting too..letting you know how everything is going. a)Hands down Sasuke Uchiha for being such a bone head -___-X I love him and all for wanting to fulfill his goals but he takes them to such extremes when so many others care about him it's ridiculous. *sigh*
b)Either Ansem for being a fail in making that heartless machine, or Riku for letting the darkness take control of him the first place. Then I'd apologize xD
8. Favorite character:
a)Howl from Howl's Moving Castle or Izumi Sano for sure. They both have a really special place in my heart and their kindness despite how they are perceived by others or how they think they are seen and the fact that they stay so strong is really inspiring to me.
b)Cloud Strife for being so resilient despite all that's happened with Zack and Aerith and his calm and collected personality. When I saw him in Advent Children I was very surprised to see he was also pretty good with children haha, but I liked that scene at the end with Denzel and the others a lot. =)

15. What are your five favorite things about your fandom? I'll keep it KH because this generally applies for me in most situations xD
1 The STORY is a hugeeee deal. I can usually overcome the art if the story is amazing and get used to it, but in KH and many other series, I love the stories, that's my favorite part about them.
2 THE ART, omg you have no idea how big of a deal art is to me for a manga or videogame etc..it can give a pretty augh impression if the art is in a style I'm not comfortable with >.< (for instance american graphic novels?!) But generally the art in the series I've seen is fantastic or I get used to it =P
3 Believe it or not the MUSIC is a pretty big factor and I've got to say that Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura are absolute geniuses who make KH thrive with the nature of the music they've created<3
4 The characters AND HOW THEY INTERACT, especially when they have unique personalities that you can pretty easily distinguish and designs to match! It's really important to me that the creator captures the interaction and atmosphere among characters, I think it really makes a wonderful story.
5 And finally the SETTING. Exotic scenery and REALISTIC, that's important to me. It can be completely fantastical, but something I can imagine myself in! And I get that a lot in the KH Worlds and in other series<3 Plus I love painting different landscapes, and painting the KH settings is always so much fun ^^

Hello everyone!! Happy first week of August!(although I'm a bit late xDD) It's my sister's birthday today and I've been quite busy each day working on stuff, so forgive me for not getting around to PMs and comments, I promise I will soon! >.<
Anyway, today will be another rather busy day but it should be fun since I'm finally getting some time with my sister(she usually comes home late from school rotations *sigh*). But in any case, I just wanted to let you guys know some things ^^
My dad came home on the 29th, and actually..all is back to normal really. We haven't discussed it yet but..in a sense I don't think we even really need to. Rather than just sitting and talking about the changes we could make, we're actually putting them into effect more, even if it is just a little bit, so I think that's a pretty big step ^^ We'll get around to talking about it eventually though, don't worry.
In other news, I witnessed my first Livestream video yesterday! Unknown-chan you're absolutely amazing haha<3 It kind of makes me want to do a livestream myself although I'm wondering how many of you would watch? xDD The only thing about that is that I'm a bit of a perfectionist haha so it'd be kind of a long process..maybe I'll break it down into an hour each day for a few days or something lol. It depends though..but I think I really want to try it out >.<
FIRST GOTTA GET ALL THIS HOMEWORK DONE xD
The homework is going well by the way, just finished one of my lonnnggg summer reading books yesterday, The God of Small Things(and holy shoot it was TERRIBLY disturbing..the ending was like...all rated R+ material and it was super confusing.) Literature is art, true, but I didn't really understand the nature of the book xDD Perhaps I'll learn more when we learn about it in school. I can't wait to have the ending explained to me xD
The only thing left is this spanish book(which seems more entertaining...a cute little romance cookbook story(don't ask, I don't know either xD)), and a 20 page question packet with a 20 page extended essay..yeah.
I've been going out for driving practice with my dad and it's a bit frustrating but also very exciting.(You know what they say about not having your parents teach you to drive..yeahhhh...) xD I'm aiming to get my license in time for golf season(if we have one T__T Our course is undergoing maintanence so if we don't find one we'll have to forfeit this season)!
I hope to get to draw soon! In a way I kind of can't wait for summer to be over and for senior year to start because by then I should have all my work done! ^^ I'm super excited for this school year in a way(although a bit nervous about Senior photos...)~
Oh! And I made a few new friends(although some of them haven't subbed me back so I wonder what happened? xD)~ but anyways hello to my new friends<3(that I met while Unknown-chan was livestreaming!) *waves* You know who you are xD
