I think you should get an acoustic guitar. It gives you a quality you can't really achieve with an electric. I remember thinking that my guitar playing was somewhat limited by only playing electric; it just didn't have any range or subtlety at all. Picking up an acoustic made me appreciate the quieter stuff, and how to actually apply those dynamics to sound in general. (However, you might be ahead of me there, so I'm only speaking from personal experience.)
