Maybe that her statement was somewhat of a hasty generalization. It should have clearly qualified it by saying that x might influence those who are more susceptible to media input than others. I think that her statement works if applied to the correct type of personality (and then we don't know who they are until they're hooked), but it's too much of a blanket statement as it stand. Nevertheless, I'll give her this: She is on the right path, I'd say, by questioning to what degree are we influenced by what we engage with, on an almost daily occurrence.
Oh, wow! Your response is awesome! SO TRUE. Gawd, and you sound so freaking intelligent and sophisticated with your answer...using all sorts of big words. XD Look at you! Haha, you'll definitely get extra points.
Yeah, video games don't take over people's lives...only if they let them. You're right; it's the same with any type of entertainment...with any...anything! You can get addicted to anything, but only people that truly have no lives will fail classes or refuse to do anything else because of a game or whatever.

oO Well I suppose some things can be addicting. But that doesn't mean everything is. So her statement was too vague. You explained it well I think.

I would say, only if the person lets it. Since anything can be an addiction or distraction from doing your school work if you let it.
