We landed in Narita at 4:00ish on Friday, October 10th.
Whilst on the plane Twisted had contracted a commonly fatal disease known as "Migraine Due to Lack of Movement and Severe Dehydration Oh and No Caffeine Isn't Helping Either People" which nearly killed her so I took most of the pictures in Narita.
We were scared we would not find our way to customs and whatnot but we just went with the flow and eventually ended up at the right spot. It wasn't even that scary and we got our bags rather painlessly. Nothing was missing.
The couple Twisted and I would be staying with were in plain sight, waving a sign that had all of our names and it. They make me giggle. So cute.
The man is Keizo and his wife is Naomi. She was teh adorableness. And yes. I typed "teh". Japanese people do not understand what you mean when you say "teh" so I recommend refraining from integrating slang into your speech patterns while in another country. Just a thought.
We changed our moneys into yen and were on our way.
We ate at a little rice-bowl restaurant chain called "Sukiya" which was tasty, too bad I had no appitite due to being on a plane for what felt like half of my life. Too bad. What was also too bad was that it was dark by this point and we all slept through the entire drive through Tokyo at night. The lights really are a spectacular sight (we went to Tokyo a few times during the trip, half of which was at night).
We dropped the brother person off at his host family (consisting of two guys living in a rather large (for Japan) appartment. One of which does physical labor, the other is a lab researcher of some form who does something with Teflon. It was all very vague when we asked him about his job). One of Tofu's (for that is what I call my brother) roomies had just prior to our arrival been in a vehicular accident and was staying at his hometown to recoup.
Then Twisted and I went to our host home to unpack and sleep. It took us forever to do this and we didn't get to sleep until well after midnight which left us being awake for well over 36 hours (for I may have slept for a total of 2 hours on the two airplanes we flew on).
Thus went our first day in Japan. Twisted's killer headache eventually got slightly better but she was still basically dead. Ah well.
Stay tuned (but not too closely. It may be a while. I'm a very busy person, you know) for the next installment of "When In Japan", brought to you by Fluffy Kitty Inc. and Coca-Cola (TM)
So, we're about to leave for the airport.
It's around 5:30 now (accidentally got up 18 minutes late because I forgot to actually push the "set" button on my alarm clock on my phone -_-'. As I told timechaser, I packed my brain away in one of our thousands of suitcases.) and I have to scoot off to take a shower.
I won't be on theO much (at all) most likely for the next 26 days, so sorry about all the updates I'll miss on your worlds and manga and art and such.
I'll be sure to tell ya'll everything I can when I have the chance (maybe in Japan once or twice) but I'll be exhausted for a while when I get there as well as when I return.
My heart is seriously attacking my ribs right now. It's pretty intense. lol.
Anywho, I've gots ta go, my hommies.
Peace out, yo.
*shot*
Darn.
Toodles o(^-^)o
My mom is freaking out royally about us going to Japan.
So, I am going to leave this note, and a little bin full of cotton balls on the table when we are going to the airport. Hopefully, she'll notice it when she goes back home.
Here's the note thing (with our real names on it. Le Gasp!!)
So, I guess we're actually going to Japan. Man.....
Anywho, this is being dual-posted. Here, and in my other world "Shika's Lazy Nook". Feel free to check out that world, too!
I'm off to finish packing now, so, toodles!!!
Our flight out of KCI (the so called "international airport" in our city, though it isn't international AT ALL) leaves at 9:00 on October 9th. After that, we fly to Detroit, get on a new plane, and fly 13 and a half hours or so to Narita, in Tokyo.
What's the crap in this situation?
I have as of yet to manage to fall asleep on an airplane.
Let's see how long I'll be awake for, shall we?
I'll get up at about 5:15 because all five of us have to shower and whatnot before leaving for the airport at 6:15. One hour so far. Now, our flight leaves at 9:00. 3 hours and 45 minutes.
What's the time in Japan at this point? 11:00 at night on Thursday. We will arrive at the airport in Narita around, say, 4 on Friday afternoon, I believe. So, that's 17 hours? So, 17 plus 4 ish. That's 21, right?
Then we have the 4 hour car drive from the airport to Maebashi, give or take an hour. That's 25 hours already. That's more than a day without sleep, in case you were wondering and needed to be sure.
Then, at this point, it'll be around 8:00 at night on Friday. The family who is picking me and my sibling persons up is the family Twisted and I are staying with. My brother is staying with someone else. It is very likely that they will want to meet us somewhere to receive my brother and eat or something. Lets add another hour. So that's 26.
Now we have to drive home from wherever we are in Maebashi. That'll be at least 45 minutes, so let's have one more hour.
That's 27 hours. Now, give us time to unload out luggage, talk some (though we will be incoherent with sleep deprivation) and then time to get ready for bed while figuring out just exactly where the two of us are going to sleep in a one bedroom house.....
We will probably be without sleep for around 28 hours.
My brain hurts just thinking about it. Ugh.
So, I have to go to the chiropractor today (my back and neck are in a constant state of outness, and that's not such a good thing when my brain and the rest of my body don't wanna party) so I've gotta call to make an appointment.
Can't wait till we leave (though we haven't quite finished packing yet because the brother person (to be known as TwerpFace until further notice) had not packed a thing prior to our making him try on every combination of clothing he owns last night) but I'm also really nervous. Not to mention, dreading the flight and no sleep. Oh well.
I've got stuffs to do today, so I'll be seein' ya.
Later, ya'll o(^-^)o
