I have to agree about function over flashy. . .am I an old fogey too? :O
"news isn't real news unless you're reading it out of a paper in your hands."
I know what you mean. I prefer reading the news in a newspaper format. Everything is going virtual. It's all about the internet now. ALSO.I.HATE.E-COOKBOOKS. D:<
Happy birthday again. :D

I am almost two-thirds of the way there! Just have five more to go -- Dance, Dance, Dance; South of the Border, West of the Sun; The Elephant Vanishes; after the quake.; and A Wild Sheep Chase (which I have already read).
It amazes me how many people I know that are 24 this year. So many people in my life . . . my brother, his friends, the Japanese guy at work, a bunch of guys from the kung-fu club, a bunch of people here (like Shadow' below) . . . clearly, there must have been something in the water in 1985 . . .
Actually I've only read Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World and The Elephant Vanishes, along with a couple stories from after the quake. I was in the middle of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle right when school started, so I'm planning on finishing that when Winter Break comes around. I also have After Dark and A Wild Sheep Chase waiting for me at home for when I actually have some free time~
I know what you mean about seeing how technologically advanced your school and probably the kids over there are from what you had or were, it kinda makes you feel sad but hey that's what happens, I guess.
And hey if you turn into an old fogey, you probably won't be alone, I most likely am one already. XD
I hope you have an awesome day Shin! Happiest 24 birthday! =3
I think there's something dignified in complaining about the news. I'm not sure why, but it just feels correct to do so. (Man, now I feel old.) Happy birthday!
I really have to catch up on my Murakami reading, but I've at least made a start.

Before we glorify you... you must sparkle some more... XD
Happy Birthday!
Also... reading 24 reminded me of the TV series, and that sound effect they play when the timer counts down played in my head.

@SomeGuy:
I can save the world only if Buff Sax Guy from The Lost Boys comes with me.
EDIT: Also, clearly 1985 was a great year.
