Haha, I was just taking songs into account, but accompanying animation can certainly contribute to that feeling of, "Why the hell is this playing for [insert series here]?!"
EDIT: Also, I love that the YouTube intro calls the series "Needles".

For the longest time I thought it actually stood for something, too, but it literally is just an extreme shortening of "ending". Likewise, OP is just a shortening of "opening".

It's not especially inappropriate for the series overall, but the Scrapped Princess ED makes me think I've just watched an episode of Azumanga Daioh. It's by the same people who did Azumanga's OP and ED and has exactly the same kind of sound.
Love Hina's ED doesn't fit the series at all unless you're Keitarou and in despair from all the constant abuse.
On a related note, this week brought us Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood episode 44, which is notable for being the only episode so far to manage to make that "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST" announcement during the eyecatch seem damned awesome as opposed to hilariously inappropriate.

Slow or sappy songs as EDs for action shows are definitely bad. I wasn't keen on the second ED to Gundam 00 Season 2. The one time it fit was at the end of the episode where Anew died.

Hahah, Mystic Eyes. To be honest, I kinda sorta... like that song. >3>
Umm, hmm, inappropriate EDs... I used to think Arjuna's ED was kinda bad. It feels more like a song you'd hear at the end of a Korean drama episode. Arjuna's this very "we need to save the earth" kinda show, so it has its share of drama and speeches.
A variation of that song though, "Saigo no Mameshiba", is made of so much awesome I cannot even describe.

I can't figure out what ED stands for. I can see that it's the ending song, but what do the initials mean?

@Ace:
I noticed the guy sounded especially enthusiastic during the eye catch of Winry in the bath.
