I don't know if I would say it's the best, but it definitely had the best ending. Regardless, this stupid show is making me break my flimsy pact that I set for myself last week. I hate it half the time, and yet I cannot stop watching it. Now I hate myself.

Well crap, Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka ep7 actually turned out to be the best one so far. (Or at least I thought so.)
The show has basically turned into my would-be-guilty-pleasure-if-I-had-any-shame anime of the season. But damn if ep7 didn't fill that role perfectly.
So you've watched Saikano, huh? Why are you still alive?! Yes, that is one sad anime, but a very good one. I'd say that watching it is worth the experience of having your core emotions flattened and handed back to you in shambles.
You should have finished it all off with a viewing of End Of Evangelion.
Just thought of something else I like about the series that I should have mentioned here -- in regards to its visual style, I love how cinematic it is. There aren't just boring shots that look straight ahead at the characters. Instead, there are a ton of interesting angles, the environment is used creatively to create good looking shots, etc. I just love seeing a series be so ambitious with the way it shows the story and succeed on just about every level.

Anyhow, REC is fine. I am glad it is a short series with short episodes; my attention span is pretty low for shoujo/romance unless done right. XD
Yes. Muraki is the creepiest. D<
