Why didn't I think of the library? My brother works at one, for crying out loud. I can imagine that the home of Hollywood would have quite a few movies in their library circulation. Browsing IMDb...you really do love film, doncha? =P
I guess I'll stop procrastinating and watch Seven Samurai. We had it on our DVR for like a year and I managed to never watch it. The 4-1/2 hours (commercials XP) seemed too daunting at the time. And it's not even like I have a problem with long movies [watched Return of the King 20x in theatres]. I just, well, have a slight aversion to black&white films. Perhaps I should get over myself for a Kurosawa film. ^_^'

Haha, ask as many questions as you want! I am always happy to answer. :)
For actual ideas on what to watch, I sometimes browse IMDb -- their lists (top 250, top 50 from each year, etc.) will usually have good movies to watch. Roger Ebert's Great Movies essays are also a fantastic resource for good movies. I once spent two or three days just reading entries, haha. Then, of course, I get ideas on what to watch from people I know on forums or from my sister (who is turning into a movie geek, herself, haha). Randomly browsing Wikipedia turns up some gems on occasion, too.
As for where I get them, I get most of them from the library. The Los Angeles County library system has a huuuuuuuuuuge stock of movies, and I can request a movie from any library in the system I want. It's so awesome, and totally free, haha. Sometimes I watch movies on TV or at the theater, but then I have to conform to a certain time frame, and I don't like that. :P
The one movie from all those I watched last year I would recommend most is Seven Samurai, directed by Akira Kurosawa. The version I watched is nearly three-and-a-half hours long, but it is the most amazingly paced movie I've ever seen, so it flew by like nothing (and keep in mind I have the attention span of a coked-up weasel). Great story, great characters, great everything. I love it to death.
Forgive me if you've explained this before but, where do you get the ideas for the movies you're going to watch? Online viewing with referrals through something like netflix? Or did you simply inherit a wicked huge DVD collection from your rich zany uncle and decided to cycle through it? I'm wondering cause, call me sheltered, but I've never even heard most of those. o.O
Another random question: If you were to recommend only one movie out of all those you watched last year, which would it be?
I'm probably pushing my luck asking all these questions... XP

I really want to watch The Last King of Scotland. I didn't when I had the chance as I wanted to read it first. Good book, very good. I prefer reading books first then watching the movie adaptation after - there is always something missing, or edited...
Funny... I just finished listening to Days not that long ago. I'm kind of a FLOW fan (although I'm not one of those idiots who calls the one Naruto opening "Fighting Dreamers"... 'cause that's just dumb).
Yay! Another year, another monstrous list of movies to watch! ^_^ I hope you have as fun this year watching the movies as you did last year.
I admire Wes Anderson's work. I'll admit that it's not to everyone's taste (that movie polarized the critics, to say the least), but his odd little movies are always welcome on my DVD player.
I really should get around to watching The Last King of Scotland That one intrigued me.

Heh, I forgot that your big long list of movie titles at the bottom would be gone now.
It all feels so... empty.
