At least for now, I think Ben will succumb to Smokey's wishes and go along with what Locke wants him to do. Smokey put the fear of Alex God into him.
As it pertains to Locke, I think he's similar to Christian now, in that the island is most certainly involved with his "resurrection." I also think Ben is correct when he says "dead is dead." If Locke were to leave the island, he'd be a dead body. Nothing more. I'm hesitant to go beyond that, though, due to the problem with the body, haha. I can't decide whether he is just a physical manifestation, or if the body is actually resurrected. Argh.
And thanks for the compliment -- I'm glad you enjoy the posts! :)
I'm not sure about her. On the one hand, I could see her being hired by Ben to rope Sayid onto the plane. On the other hand, Widmore definitely could have hired her to mess with Ben's plans. But I guess that would also mean he knows about the plan to get back to the island, and I am not 100 percent certain he does. I think I need more information. xD
Words cannot express how much I loved this episode, lol. I was kind of terrified to watch it for a while because I was worried they would kill Ben off, and they did a good job of keeping me on tenterhooks till the very last second. I honestly never thought I would see the day when I would want Ben to reform (well... in a manner of speaking), but I hope he obeys Alex and becomes Locke's bitch. If only because as fun as Ben's endless conniving manipulation is, it'll get a little old if he attempts to murder Locke for, what, the third or fourth or fifth time now. XD
Really dig the newrecipe!Locke. I guess I have a soft spot for smug know-it-all characters with infuriatingly cryptic dialogue and creepy smirks? My dad and I tried to discuss whether he's an avatar of the island/manifestation of the monster, or something else that is Not Locke, or actually alive again, or changed in the way that the temple changed little Ben, etc. We didn't exactly get anywhere, though.
I must reiterate how much I enjoy reading these posts of yours--it's the next best thing to actually watching the episode with my usual peanut gallery back at home in the States.
Re:Elena (I forget if that's her name too, haha), something about her attitude & the way the other passengers acted at the very end reminded me of what Smokey did to Rousseau's crew. But I guess it's more likely that they came to the island with a mission than that it already went in and tampered with their heads (or body-snatched them, or whatever) while Lapidus was out of the picture.
Really excited about next week! Was not expecting a Miles episode.
Ben episodes are the best kind of episodes. The writers have done a really good job with his character *very happy*
So do you think the chick (Elena?) is on Ben's side or Widmore's? Somehow I don't reckon she's just another passenger who accidentally got caught up in this thing because the family of Sayid's victim wanted justice. Not when she's spouting mysterious lines. Also, poor Cesar getting the shaft so quickly :(
There was one thing, which I'm not sure if you've touched on in the post relevant to that particular episode, but how is it that Christian could hand Sun the picture frame but not grab Locke's hand? Fine, I understand that it was first and foremost a symbolic thing to not aid Locke - that he had to do it himself - but does it mean he can only deal with inanimate objects, such as the lamp/picture frame, not humans?
And in that vein, is Christian a materialization of Jacob? Or is Richard the true identity of our mystery man? I'm craving more information on the latter! "Richard's old" - Juliet
Finally - a big woozaa at Desmond not being dead and beating Ben up for attempting to kill Penny, lol.
