I really enjoyed Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, I need to watch it again to refresh my memory. Plus, I love Jimmy Stewart so I'd watch it just for that... > >;;
Sadly, I won't make it to the Rifftaku meeting. :(

"Have you fallen in love?" "No, but I've stepped on it."
XDD Oh yes, Alpha. Especially the first time you see him and he looks all cool spying through the bushes, but then that voice comes out. Hahah! Also, another favorite line of mine was Doug when he said, "I was hiding under the porch because I love you."
It is the talking dogs in general, more specifically Alpha's voice. I laughed so hard when he had the chipmunk voice, and it just does not stop being funny. The fact that he does not use contractions makes it better. I love Alpha.
If you haven't seen it with the Japanese cast, you haven't really seen Evangelion.
No, this isn't just me being a subs purist. When it came to Shinji, Spike Spencer just never got the point: from the beginning he took Shinji as a whiny, unlikeable wuss, and it's no surprise that his Shinji comes off as exactly that. I'd make the wager that anyone who likes Eva, having only seen the dub, likes it entirely in spite of Shinji (that was certainly my own case). Basically, this is not how it should be watched. Spencer's Shinji wouldn't be so bad if the Japanese version weren't there for comparison but, well...
The fact is, Megumi Ogata puts in one of the best performances in the history of the medium. She tore herself apart psychologically doing Shinji - no really, there are some legendary stories of her actually breaking down during the recording sessions. Bottom line, having her voice Shinji completely changes the dynamic of the series, and there is (for my money) no other legitimate way to watch the show. The rest of the dub is perfectly serviceable, but without Ogata's Shinji half the substance just drains right out.

It'll be interesting when the dub of the new Evangelion films come over here. I read the released cast list for the first one, and except for Shinji and Misato, everyone is different, like Greg Ayres as Kensuke... that's going to be quite odd to hear at first. ^^

I plan on seeing Up. The trailer for it looks fun. And hearing other people who've seen it say it was, only makes me want to see it more.

YES. I did not know it was possible for me to laugh and say, "AWWWWWWWWWW" at the same time, but apparently it is.
Love thy Evangelion.

I'm guessing the running joke you liked was the squirrel thing? 'Cause I know my brother, sister and me cracked up the first two times they used it.
