Thank you! Actually the effects were done on PS. The version you have should have the same features and more since mine is old. Check out the "Filter" window. (i.e. for the sun light, I did: Filter > Render > Lens Flare) There are tons of features on Photoshop. You could also mess around with the Layer Modes. I'm just learning bit by bit as I go along, and seeing artists' work on DA helps me too.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it. This was my first strictly cel shaded piece, and I think it's quicker than soft shading. When thinking about the light source, I actually looked at a few different anime stills to get an idea on how I should draw the shadows since there aren't a lot in anime.
wow that looks really pro!! I've yet to have the courage to try cel shading cuz you need clean lines and know where the shadows go, but you've done a really great job!! does it take more or less time compared to soft shading?
