I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.
And I work for this site.
And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).
Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.
If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Back to happy news. My buddy in Seattle has been e-mailing around regarding Penny Arcade Expo. The following e-mail exchange is part of that process . .
ORIGINAL MSG SENT BELOW + REPLY....
this looks like a possible one day event invite for us... SOON!!
as in for a sega event at gameworks during PAX!! (we prolyl cant get in for free at THIS MOMENT for pax.. but as things come along.. we'll see.. but for now.. this is the BEST I could get (without your permission I know... lol) of us for VC promo and in cosplays... ^_^V
Hello! I can't seem to find the PR email for Sega of America online and I think you're the closest to talk about this. (or you can forward this to the proper personnel?)
I was wondering if the Sega Booth for Pax would need any assistance from me (and maybe a few friends?) in our Valkyria Chronicles cosplays/costumes?
We are all big fans of the game and have all made our own unifroms. I would very much like to help Sega booth any way I can, however the 3 Day Passes are all sold out and no way of getting in. I would be very honoured if you would allow me to help promote and if you would like a certain number of my other friend to help as well, I could contact them.
I appreciate your time!

Hey there!
I looked to see if we could get you guys any passes, but sadly it looks like there's no way we can get any more, even though we will have presence at the show.
That said - if you guys will be there on Saturday night, we will be having a SEGA Party at Gameworks, and I'd love to offer you guys VIP passes to get in early at 6PM. We will be giving away some special VC2 promo swag there, too, and having you guys on-hand would be absolutely awesome. I've seen some of your cosplay before and always thought it would be great to get a spotlight for you on the official blogs.
If you guys will be in the area (sorry again that we can't get you passes, I did try), you're welcome to bring as many people as you'd like - the more gallian uniforms, the better!
All the best,
Aaron
Needless to say, negotiations with the supervisor are now underway to let me get out of town that weekend . . .
Serious news rant. You will not leave this post in a good mood. Consider that a warning.
First heard about this news story when my brother's fiancee e-mailed us a link to it with the subject title "Creepy". It was about ...
I've decided that every blog I ever write while drinking a Mickey's wide-mouth, I shall topic title with whatever picture puzzle they have under the cap. In this case, it is "Don't Flake Out".
Third best thing about Mickey's. The first be...
Best part is where he spoke with a group of cosplayers:
To the left of our trailing storm trooper, young men posed for photos in various battle positions, entering deep into their characters’ psyches. Beneath the shade of some nearby trees, costumed groups relaxed and chatted, their role-playing on hold. I took a seat next to a platoon of blue uniformed characters and scanned the schedule of the day’s events: ”cosplay chess,” was the first item listed, followed by “Team Four Star,” “Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged”, “Carl Horn- Show a Fansabu,” and, a personal favourite: “Robot Unicorn Attack”.
Overwhelmed, I waited for the photographer before approaching the group in the matching blue suits. They informed me that their costumes represented characters from a video game. When asked how they got coordinated, they explained that it was all done over the internet, and brought to life by a few in-person sewing parties. They were all too happy to pose for a picture.
I guess I can finally have time to clean up my place. I'm still kinda living in squalor.
Anyway, con' was good. But, I've still some unfinished business. Case in point:
We got knocked out in the first round AGAIN! We just have really bad luck of the draw when it comes to who our opponents are. We HAD to get the ones who knew wushu aerials . . . also, we drew really low hit points, so it was two moves and then death.
Nevertheless . . . this battle actually won the "Lionheart Award" for best battle of the game. Can't feel bad about that.
Still, we had so many attacks planned that we never got to use! Next year needs to hurry up . . .
. . . also, unrelated note. Hilariously useful quote from Being Erica:
"I know, it's easy to be sorry... after the fact... things haven't turned out the way you wanted them to..."
I think I used it in chat on a kid once. Other mods told me I was being mean.
Probably.
Anyway, con was good. Masquerade Ball had a lot of hiccups, but people enjoyed themselves for the most part. Final Fantasy Fight Tournament was super fun and I want to do it again right this instance. Also, I played a ukelele for a while in the Artists Alley on Sunday - that was hilarious.
