I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.
And I work for this site.
And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).
Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.
If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Found out too late about this last year. But shock, one year later, it's relevant again!
Random fact for those of you not in the know: Canada got its name back when French Explorer Jacques Cartier received directions from the Iroquoian locals to the next village, or "kanata". Beyond that settlement, Cartier came to use the word to describe the rest of that particular region of the new world. And the rest is history.
Happy 143rd birthday to the big village, and Happy Canada Day to everyone!
Anyone familiar with Team Fortress Classic 2 and Band of Brothers will laugh:
So other than that, I've been quiet. Main things involving life:
-Grandma in town, working on cosplay with her.
-Work.
-Getting car fixed.
-Getting a cold again (I blame Beth, she got sick first).
-Transformers: War For Cybertron
Also, the more I post like this, the more I realize it may be worth getting on Twitter . . .
Dude. Drinking milk straight from the carton is way trickier than they make it out to be on TV. That said, I only had a bit of milk left and it seemed prudent at the time. There was major potential for spillage.
In other news, the Evangelion Rebuild movies are pants-shittingly awesome and shocking in their ability to make you go "holy crap, that's not what happened last time!".
I'm very happy to see that the weather's really nice today. We're planning a Valkyria Chronicles cosplay photoshoot by a lake today, and rain would have really screwed that over. On the downside, I think a few people can't make it anymore. So it looks like it might only be . . . 5 or 6 of us? What can I say, I love my giant cosplay group, I'm always sad when we can't all make it. It's just fun, y'know?
So aside from that, let's see . . . Oh, I watched Shutter Island last night while I was falling asleep and with a headache (side note: it sucks to have a headache while watching a movie about a guy who's having migraines and who may or may not be going crazy). So verdict? Pretty good, easy on the eyes, interesting enough plot. Pretty much the worst thing this movie could have done is tell you that "you won't believe the shocking twist at the end!" The second you do that, you let people start thinking, "okay, so there's a big twist that we'd never believe, so let's start thinking drastically for a second . . ." Won't say I guessed the end quite right, but I passed by the pieces in my mind enough that when it all came together, I went "yeah, okay, alright." So yeah, it's a'ight.
Quiz results! So that was a fun little event. Mad props to Indi who pretty much remembers everything she's ever heard about anything or anyone - that's powerful skills, and you even edged out the person who I lived with for a year. That takes power. Also, of hilarious interest: every person who scored 40% on "Know Your SomeGuy" correctly knew my birth city. I found that amusing.
Going back to cosplay, I'm about to start working on the dress uniform from Valkyria Chronicles. Reckon it'd go well for Masquerade Balls at the cons. That said, the whole bunch of us are finally starting to organize the Masquerade Ball for Anime Evolution. Here's hoping we don't fail - there's lots of potential with years of masquerade experience now, so we should be okay. We'd better, really.
Is that about it? Yeah, that's about it.
Here, have a YouTube of a little asian kid playing the ukelele. You'll feel better for it.
