Welcome to my world.

I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.

And I work for this site.

And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).

Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.

If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Question for Pokemon Fans . . .

Why does everyone want Soul Silver instead of Heart Gold? Silver sold out right away at work, and people coming in have been asking for it. I asked one kid and he said it was because his friend was getting gold; another guy said it was because he had silver back in the day. It has to be something more, though, like a specific super pokemon or something.

If anyone knows, I'd love to hear it.

Beyond that, I've been quiet lately. Lots of good reasons, too:

  • First and foremost, cosplay. Half a month to go and I have . . . most of the pants done. I'm very much screwed. Damn you Welkin, why must you be so complicated?!
  • Secondly, cold. Had a sore throat on Thursday, went "damnit, I don't have time for this!" and then by the next week it had gone full-blown coughing and yellow phlegm and congestion and bleeding. Pretty much everything that can happen to a nose happened to my nose. Fun. Not.
  • Tertiarily (and I'm pretty sure that's a real word) . . . God of War 3. There's some fun violence in that bad boy.

Still need to get the Sakura-Con meet-up planning done, too . . . gurgh . . . usually never leave it this late . . . well, maybe I can get that up and running tomorrow or so. I think I see a good window of time for a meet, but I just have to double-check with folks and go from there.

Also, been fretting just a little about black-ops mod-type stuff here. Y'know, constantly watching people, concerned of cover-ups and stuff, worried about whom they affect and how that would affect this whole investigation . . . fun times, y'know? And yeah, I know, I even blog about it . . . alright, it's not quite black-ops. But still.

So yeah. That's where I've been. I kinda wanna peg this with FML, but the storyline doesn't lead to it well. So we'll say it's an honourable mention.

And now that the party's over . . .

. . . I'm pretty sure I have a cold, going by all things nose-related I've suffered these past few days. Congestion, running, bleeding.

Sucks.

Whatever. The Olympics were still awesome.

Mukmuk Said It Best:

I went downtown after the hockey game to take some pictures and just walk around where people are celebrating. Watched most of the closing ceremonies at CTV's little video stand, too. Saw lots of crazy stuff, smelled a lot of BO, cigarettes, and more weed than I would have preferred.

Goddamnit, Vancouver . . .

But yeah. Hell of an Olympics. I think we're gonna be glowing from this one for a while.

gg, world. gg.

I. Love. Curling.

Only in Canada can a man like this be hailed as an athletic hero worthy of people rushing up for autographs:

Team Kevin Martin of Canada took the gold in Men's Curling, edging out the Finns and their crazy pants at the end of regulation. It was a good game.

Also, the curling world will forever remember that Vancouver 2010 was probably the most psychotically enthusiastic curling crowd in the history of the Olympic Games. Fun times.

So yeah. Apparently we're tied for most golds won by a hosting nation with 13. That's not bad at all. And if we can win the men's hockey game, we'll be breaking a helluva record.

If, anyway.

See ya guys at 12:15 Pacific! Best of luck to all!

HOOOOOOLY FU-----!!!!!!!

To: Team Canada Men's Hockey Team:

WHY DID YOU LET IT GET SO CLOSE?!?!

We go into the third period 3-0 against Slovakia. So far so good. About ten minutes in the Slovaks nail a goal. Dang. Alright, fair enough. . .

. . . a few minutes later, they score again. Alright, this is getting a little scary here . . . . .

. . . the final 2 minutes of regulation, the Slovaks have turned Roberto Luongo's net into a shooting gallery. Scariest damn 2 minutes of the whole night.

So Canada still won, and we shall have our rematch against the US on Sunday. This is good. But that said . . .

WHAT THE FUCK, CANADA?! STOP DOING THAT!!!!

In Other News:

Congratulations, Mimmi! Your girls have taken home the gold in Curling, leaving Canada with the silver.

The Swedes played a crazy close game against Canada (who choked when it was down to the line). I spent the last hour at work in kind of a funk after that as Curling is one of those games where a single stone's throw can make or break a game. In Canada's case tonight, it broke. Dang.

But we still have the men's. So Sweden, you may have this one. Our girls'll getcha back in 2014.

GG.

Over At Short Track:

Two golds in Short Track for the 500m and for the 5,000 relay! Holy crap, we might only be in third for overall medals right now this year, but we're actually first for gold medals right now!

I kinda believe that this has never happened before. This is kinda nifty. Even if we don't finish with the most golds in the end, gotta say, this has been a good year for the red and white in the great white north. Even if Vancouver barely counts.

Back To Business:

Schultzie, buddy, I'll be online on Sunday. I suppose I could go downtown be there for the shitstorm and all. But I've a better idea. Let's make a chatroom that night so we can all watch together? I'll set it up first if no one else does.

See you on Sunday, Amercs'. We's got some unfinished business, methinks.

Should be fun.
