Yeah, he's either trying really really hard to get hits, or he's a complete idiot.... wait a second, he's both; cause I saw plenty of both races in the trailer ya know! ~___~
That's the first time I've seen Morgan talk on racism, and I'm pretty impressed myself. I couldn't agree with him anymore :)
I hate it when people bring race into the debate. Often times, those who cry "racism" are those who do not give themselves the opportunity to be more intelligent, and as a result, relegate themselves to the same cycle of self-defeat they were raised in. And Morgan Freeman is made of AWESOME!! He's gotta be one of my favorite actors. He could walk up to you, punch you in the face, and in that voice of his tell you calmly, "I murdered your entire family and extended family," and you'd STILL think he was the most amazing guy around.

Totally agreed. It's good to raise future generations to be less ignorant of other cultures and races, but something as arbitrary and superficial as race-related months/weeks/holidays don't really help and can def. be seen as patronizing.
I hadn't thought of it in that way before, but he's right that African American history shouldn't need to be highlighted, since it's a part of American history. If there's a Black History month, you'd think there'd at least be more focus on African history, which is something that a lot of Americans don't know much about. (Other than, like, apartheid and Rwanda.) I mean, it's probably a bad thing that most Americans seem to think of Africa as the Continent of Death... like the Middle East minus Islam or something.

Morgan Freeman can be harsh sometimes but he is totally right on this.
