I have to say, that 1st sound? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. lol. But I'm a decent amount older than 25 and I'm sure I've ruined my hearing anyway from much rock concert-going. XD
Hmmm since I'm 27... I guess that's why I had to turn the volume up a bit before I could hear anything. -_- I could hear the second one just fine though, even if the screech was a bit annoying. XP
Ah, so that's what it was. I remember hearing about this a while back, as teachers were upset with it.
Hmm... since Timechaser could hear it, I wonder what is the oldest person recorded to be able to properly listen to it? That would be an even more interesting experiment. It'd be like those one in a million types, I bet.
Yeah I just heard it and I heard really well without touching the volume it kinda made my head and ears hurt while it was playing. Urgh. But it's kinda fun to know that my ability to listen to that sound means my ears are working perfectly fine! Hahaha.
I just listened to the audio before reading this post and it's the same sound my old tv emits (and the other one, although to a lesser degree), which sometimes gives me a headache when trying to watch something -.-

OMG THIS TOTALLY EXPLAINS SOMETHING FROM MY CHILDHOOD.
Because in my old apartment, we had a mouse infestation problem. So my cousin bought a whole bunch of mouse traps that got rid of the mice by emitting a constant high-pitched beeping noise that supposedly only mice could hear. Except that with one of the devices in particular, I could hear (it wasn't even so much hearing as it was feeling the reverberation in my ears) the noise very distinctly, even from all the way across the room.
But none of the adults could hear it, so they all kept saying that I had mouse ears. :(
First off, I'll say that I can like, just barely hear the thing on slightly higher-than-normal volume . . . like, it's really quiet for me.
If I turn the volume up quite a bit I can hear a really faint high pitched sound, otherwise, nothing. But hey, I'm 37, so no crying at my end. :p Naturally I can hear the other one just fine... even if it is annoying. XP

Well at least the second sound wasn't as annoying, but that first one... yuck! That was just irritating, seriously.

Heh, I'm glad I could hear it and withouth jacking my sound up too far. Means I'm not losing my hearing... yet. Hopefully.
Heh, figures that anything adults invent to wage war on teens, the teens can twist to their own advantage.
