What if we talked to your mom and convinced her it'd be okay? There's like, 3 instances of profanity and the rest is only just extremely graphic throat-slitting and cannibalism. Besides, it's all done in song!
Haha . . . maybe this won't fly after all . . . alright, we'll do it next year.
Well there's also the problem that I'm squeamish. >_> I know it's fake but stuff like that just grosses me out. >_< Seriously. Maybe once I'm a little older it won't bother me so much.
Ironically, since I backed my mom into a corner about me being old enough to determine if I should attend church or not when I was thirteen, she's pretty open about letting me decide if I'm ready for something or not. So if I really wanted to see it she'd let me... I just don't want to. ^^
We picked up a little film at a garage sale once that had a Canadian rating of "PG" thinking it would at least semi-resemble our rating system. Maybe you're familiar with it - "Playing By Heart". Yeah, they drop about as many f-bombs in that film as a tree does leaves in fall. Considering that using that word but once here will earn an "R" rating, we were a tad surprised.

"Saving Private Ryan" was rated 18A in theaters in Canada, but once it got to home video they lowered it down to 14A. I'm not sure why they do that, but it happens a lot with movies (sometimes even when they're still in theaters).
It's just funny; sometimes it really seems like in the US they'll hike up the ratings for nudity and sexuality but be fairly chill with violence. In Europe they hike up the ratings for violence but are pretty chill with nudity and sexuality; Britain in particular gets a mention for at one point cutting out two seconds of "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" to remove a headbutt . . . the Brits really hate the headbutts for some reason . . .
So in Canada we often have British/European sentiment to nudity and sexuality in terms of movie ratings, but we also have the American acceptance of screen violence.
In conclusion: my idea of PG-13 when the Fan Words come through is pretty chill all around.
Random: Just a little fyi. I wouldn't recommend Braveheart if you're worried about "graphic bloody violence." I was a tad too young when I got my hands on an "edited" (ha) version. Yeah, it wasn't edited. At all. How I made it through nearly 3 hours of horses being impaled and limbs being hacked off without figuring out it was the uncut version I'll never know.

One of my colleagues is/was crazy with the movie so she made me watch most, if not, all stage productions that were available at youtube, it was quite entertaining and really impressive. I still haven't watched the new film yet, I should do that soon.

You wanna know what's really awesome, though?

Sweeny Todd = Rated R for graphic bloody violence. Aaryanna = 15 So therefore, I will not be seeing that movie any time soon. :p

I remember seeing the a video of one of the stage productions of Sweeny Todd in college. Angela Lansburry plays the crazy meat pie lady.
I still haven't seen the new film. Better get onto that this summer.
Bazinga!
