I don't think you've mentioned them before... but in addition to having a pretty neat nickname, "The Angels of Bataan" made a nice little contribution to WWII by aiding the US soldiers stationed in the Philippines. As if saving lives weren't hard enough, captures and fleeing from the enemy just up the difficulty. Their story is a simple one, but is by no means unimportant. Although I do have a few nurses in my family, it doesn't take a blood connection to those in the medical field to relate to anyone who can provide that sort of care. We all have mothers, right? If I were lucky enough to receive that sort of naturally comforting and caregiving touch during such brutal times... I'd call them my angels too.
