Group running is fantastic. Forbid watches, say five-minutes, do twenty. Will help define the core. So will two-minute planks (on your stomach, prop yourself up on elbows, hold body perfectly straight and off the ground) and multiple 10-sets of four-count crunches.
Good luck if you're trying to cut weight and define your muscles. Unless the amount of fat you're cutting is tremendous, there's a good chance slimming down and muscle-building will make you gain a little bit of weight (or stay roughly the same). Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat and as long as you stay strict on yourself, you'll be fine.
It is possible as long as you eat right along with working out 3 to 4 times a week. Healthy weight loss is 2 to 3 pounds a week, but it depends how much that person weighs for "healthy" weight loss. Good luck!
