Our family bought an HDTV years ago, and it died. IT still sits in our living room, and still dead. Hahahaha!!!
Anyways, did I ever tell you that we finally got Rock Band?? The siblings all chipped in their money and bought Rock Band for the Wii. All four of us played and it was quite fun (^_^)
The halo effect on our tv nearly disappears the darker you have it set, though it's more a result of something very bright being shown alongside deep black than a doubling effect. Check your blackness levels and other settings. Maybe you can tweak it till it goes away. If not, then I guess you're stuck with gettin' it looked at. Bummer.

Maybe once I get enough money to visit that said of CanadaLand, we can play Rockband. I'm shitty at musical-type things though. I fear picking up my cousin's Guitar Hero. -_-'
You're lucky you got out of the majority of heavy lifting. The fact that two of my brothers are stronger and larger than me gets me nothing. My mom and the youngest move aside while my dad barks orders at the rest of us. We brought the massive television/stereo cabinet down to our basement a few years ago, along with the old television and the furniture. It's not exactly a happy job, since it kills the fingers, but it's exercise at the least. *shrugs*
...but I totally would still be the one wiring everything afterwards until the wee hours. My brothers moved the television/stereo cabinets last time and want to know where the speakers ended up? In the ceiling. We can hear whatever they're watching better in the laundry room and in the kitchen right upstairs too clear for comfort. Ruddy brothers.
Rock Band party? Sure, just let me get the money that'll it cost for me to get to Canada...
But yeah, moving is a bitch, as I pointed out in my epic cleaning adventure from a few weeks back. Moving furniture by yourself isn't fun, especially when it has things in/on top of it. Ahaha.
We recently relocated almost every piece of furniture in our house, so I understand the vaste undertaking you guys accomplished.
One of the things we moved was a ginormous TV (it was surprisingly light though. Rear projection and all that. Not much inside it) which involved 3 siblings, and one dad moving the huge thing down 45 degree angle stairs with a low ceiling. We had to remove the railing. Our mom (who is currently broken) watched. We yelled at her when she tried to touch the TV.
I hope you get as much enjoyment as possible out of your new set up^^
Nice... pity I'm so far away, as a truck driver I was required to be able to move so much and lift a certain amount of weight. In other words, I so could have helped you guys move that around. :p

So . . . Rock Band party at my house? Guys?
How 'bout we each go halvsies on the plane ticket? =P
With an epic furniture move like that, I advocate you buy thos strap things they advertise on TV. You know, the ones that allow to stand upright and take the weight on your forearms, which are more natural levers.

Ouch, hehehe but hey the heavy lifting, wiring set-up and cleaning afterwards was worthy, wasn't it? =D
Hehe and yeah I do know how it is to move big heavy things and a stairway that bends at the bottom can be really a pain.
And yes, I accept the challenge! =P
