Welcome to my world.

I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.

And I work for this site.

And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).

Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.

If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Number Crunching

Damn, it was raining hard yesterday. Unusually cold June this year in Vancouver . . . sucks. Ah well, it'll be over within the week, hopefully.

So I finally went to Purolator yesterday so I could ship away my broken Rock Band pedal and get that $30 charge taken off my credit card. Wanna know what's awesome? The people at the office saw the box, saw the shipping sticker on the side, knew exactly what it was and why I was there.

Go EA.

So yeah, here's how the process works. A piece of your gaming hardware breaks down; you call EA about it; they ship you a new replacement piece and put a charge for it on your credit card as collateral; when you receive your replacement piece, you then ship back your old broken piece in the same box; when EA receives the box, they take the charge off your credit card. Hooray for good customer service policies!

You do have to pay for return shipping, however . . .

I really need to check back with EA about that, 'cause that's really crappy. Consider the following:

  • I currently have a $30 charge on my credit card for that plastic drum pedal.
  • When they receive my broken drum pedal to confirm I wasn't screwing them over, they shall remove that $30 charge.
  • Shipping that thing via Purolator from Vancouver, BC to EA's office in California costed $20.50 plus $4 gas tax; thus, it costed me $24.50 to remove a $30 credit card charge.

Now I'm not too upset because ultimately this is still less than just getting a new replacement part . . . but yeahhhhh. I dunno, maybe EA'll refund me that bit? I'd better check with them . . . . . 'cause yeah. Ouch.

Ahem.

So hey, who hasn't done Becky's Writing Prompt yet?

Do it! Do ittt!!!
