SomeGuy's Journal. March 6, 2009:
Woke up earlier than usual. Actually out of bed before noon. Had to follow up on phone call from last night about meeting out of town contacts. She had suggested meeting on her end of the city at about 11:15am before movie. I believed her.
11:15, called her to check up. Said they were just leaving. Hurm. Irony that I was early and had to drive several times further than they not lost on me. Langley - it had to be Langley.
11:30, finished reading through magazine a second time. The others arrived. Bought me my movie ticket, even. Appreciated that. Happy to finally meet Becky face to face after so many years. The girl's really adorable, turned out. Wasn't surprised.
Watchmen turned out to be a great movie. Seeing it in IMAX made it even better. Very faithful to original story, tone, and style. Need to see it again. One less idiot in audience cheering at misogynistic scenes and giggling at full-frontal blue man would probably make it even better.
Took Becky with me after movie. Drove westward. Got donuts and coffee at Tim Horton's; important point to hit up whenever visiting Canada for first time. Drove to Chinatown, showed off the rock garden. Also important to hit up. Also gave Becky a new charm to replace the one lost during Christmas. Enjoyed closure.
Little time left; had to pick up Alexa from work. Ended up rounding UBC quickly. Regret not having more time to better show Becky around campus.
Hurm.
Picked up Alexa from her workplace. She was feeling sick and didn't want to go out much. Was still angry with us for seeing Watchmen without her, though. Not my fault; blame Surrey.
Drove to ancestral home town for dinner. Had request for non-asian food, catered to it with fish & chips. All of us loved the fish & chips. All of us hate coleslaw - such a useless mess of vegetable matter. Felt good to treat everyone to dinner, though.
Made way back home. Talked about movies. Becky was sweet throughout trip. Then she mentioned a movie that made her "cry like a bitch." Did double-take at that. Laughed afterwards. Good line. Good memory.
Everyone still really full from fish & chips after sitting down on couch. Waited for Dollhouse to show. Changed sheets on my bed in meantime for Becky since she agreed to spend the night. Funny, didn't even offer bed to stupid friend Ed when he visited. Hurm.
Spent other bits of night watching Japanese boys running away from the 1-up Mushroom. Lots of laughs. Girl who knows Japanese found it very funny. Looked at old yearbooks, laughed at how dumb we looked in past, at how dumb old friends looked in past. Rest of night fun, but mostly blur. Hurm. Definitely had fun, though.
Slept on futon. Tossed a little. Slept well enough.
