With the arrival of Fan Words, I'm hoping that lots of members are taking a crack at getting published here at theOtaku. There's plenty of features to write and lots of stories to tell out there. Nevertheless, sometimes we feel the need for a second pair of fresh eyes to look over our work before we send it out for nomination. They can help with the grammar and spelling troubles, give a little insight into other ways you can approach your subjects... or maybe they can just be there to give you someone with whom you can get some thoughts about your work.
That's when you go look for a beta reader.
Beta readers, if you want them, can be your second set of eyes. They can proofread your work, edit it for spelling or grammar, and give you quick feedback about what you've written before you put it out for a shot at publication. If you have a story, essay, or any written work that you feel could use the assistance of a beta reader or editor, you're in luck - we've just the group for you!
Listed below are members just like you and me - members, peers, friends - who are willing to volunteer their help to any writers who so wish it. Each has his or her own particular tastes, styles and specialties; browse through their portfolios to find the right beta reader for you, and contact them via comment or PM to see if they're available to help.
So without further ado...
Our current pool of editors and beta readers includes:
I'll add any new editors and beta readers to the list as they come; any further questions can go to the specific member you'd like to ask.
As well, I myself can help with a bit of proofreading in a pinch, though any site-related obligations will always come first so I'd recommend checking with the others first.
So if you or anyone you know would like to have a second set of eyes to look over your writing, this is the place to go.
With that, I'm happy to present a very talented pool of writers who are more than happy to promote the literary arts here at theOtaku.com - it is my hope that these people can help at least a few people here at theOtaku in polishing their writing.
I've decided that it could be a useful resource to have a list of writing editors and beta-readers for aspiring Fan Word writers.
There are a lot of times where I've read a really good submission that was interesting, had an excellent point...
