There are no boundaries to overstep here, 'Leaf. Actually, I really appreciate that you acknowledged that bit of stuff since, frankly, that stuff on my mind is more or less what pushed me to just sit down and go to town on this thing.
But yeah, I have been thinking that I'd try to do more of this sort of stuff more often these days. I graduated so long ago with the intention of doing more of this kind of stuff and I really haven't gotten on top of that; that needs to change.
Thank you all the same. This comment may be the turning point for what has otherwise been a pretty blah day.
I don't feel that it's my place to say anything about Diablo, or your situation. Besides, that's kinda rude. So I'll talk to something I feel qualified to make comment to.
James, I really think that you should pursue this. You're a gifted, solid writer (not that I ever thought otherwise) and I honestly think that you might be able to expand this, maybe even reach an audience beyond theO. It's been my experience that writing about video games opens up a lot of deeper questions and conflicts--it's not just about leveling up and beating bad guys. This piece reminded me a lot of a guy I knew in school who wrote beautiful pieces about Dungeon and Dragons and subsequent moral conundrums. And unlike his work, this doesn't have to stay an autobiographical piece. Barely fictionalizing my own life has been met with success. But really, this is great writing.
I'm sorry if I've overstepped my bounds. I'm no authority, after all. And I don't mean to be insensitive to what you've written about here. Like I said, I don't think it's my place. But I hope you'll keep working on this.
My character in Diablo II: LOD experienced a tough challenge in Nightmare... probably because I didn't build it right, and also I'm playing it solo. XD

Back before its release, I was considering getting Diablo 3 because it looked kind of fun. (I'd never played the first two.) But after reading more about it, I ended up not because of how grindy and repetitive it seemed to be. I figured I'd probably only care to play the game past the first time through if I were with friends, and I wouldn't care at all to grind equipment for inferno.
If you did get Guild Wars 2, though, there'd also be a few of us from theO for you to play with. I, at least, will be playing it a crapton since I've found the beta weekends to be a lot of fun even just while soloing.
