Similar in the fact you have an open world. But thats it. You can't hijack cars, you can't use any weapons (aside from your door-to-door salesman cleansing blade and gun) And the game will look all bright and happy in some places, and dark and dreary in others.

Okay maybe you'll be allowed a sedan. Like a Ford Taurus or Chevy Caprice. But nothing durable and nothing fast.

Yes. In other games. In RE4 and many other "survival horror" games you simply have to many guns. But the regenerators were scary. Until I got the thermal scope.

And I just came with a great idea for a survival horror game. You play as a person in a perfectly normal city trying to go about your normal life, But you have to be constantly on guard because there are psychopaths with chainsaws and high performance cars roaming about. And the only thing you can kill are the door-to-door salesman.

I mean sure he has eyes in his hand; and a general lack of body fat. Ohhhhhh- thats be pretty damn awesome though. I mean. If we were talking small bugs here- which I imagine would be better- that'd be a way cooler way to go. After all the most a bear could do is some serious peeling of your skin. Like half your face wraped around your skull. Although... I'm sure if you combine the two the though of being paralized by a 700lbs bear nawing through your skin and than having some swarms get you clogging your air ways with their bodies and eating away at yoru eyes? I not sure which would be more painful. On one hand bears have claws and teeth but it would only take one bear to kill you whereas it would take several hundred to get a good horrific Syfy channel death. Just think about it all those bugs crawling on your skin.. climbing down your throat.. eating from the inside out and you would be totally helpless.

Okay now that I have guaranteed you nightmares for a week I'm off to bed.

And yes you really should "Eaten alive by bugs to that list" it's a much more valid threat than bears. Just ask the Syfy channel

I'm there with ya on the outrageous cost of traveling. I just spent 5 days on a road trip and the cost for gas and tolls was astounding. Really, what happened to like 1.50 a gallon? I couldn't even drive then, but still :P. Good luck with the challenge :)
