Other people have said what I pretty much wanted to say ^__^ I don't want to discourage your relationship between Joe, but it seems you're the one who's really trying to work out the relationship. Joe just seems to be tagging around and having a blast at certain times. It doesn't matter if he's suffering from depression. I worked with a lot of mentally ill patients, and if they really want to, they come in for help. People who take initiative instead of blaming it on their illness are truly strong and amazing. I don't believe that Joe has done either by himself (omitting that one time when you ask him too).
When he sends you texts like these, he isn't thinking about anyone but himself. He's not thinking about your feelings or your relationship together. It's all about his needs, and his thoughts and all this 'his' stuff. It's not fair to your feelings, and you. You don't deserve this, and honestly, I don't think he deserves you. Perhaps it takes the courage of leaving to realize how much he took for granted. Whatever you choose, I wish you the best dear~ :)

I am way too forgiving. I am too trusting, too. And I get burned from it bad. Joe does need medical help. And there's a part of me that doesn't want to leave him because I want to be there during his struggle.

Actually, even weird cat ladies can find someone. The only way you'd end up alone is if every guy on the face of the earth died.

You have to be strong enough to let go of people that only do you harm. If you don't, then they'll just use you and abuse your emotions. Let it progress long enough and they can really harm you mentally. It's hard to be strong, but it's the way you have to be in this world. You can show people your emotions, but you have to keep them closely guarded from people that only wish to toy with them. It's hard being close to people, even just as friends, because you never know if they're gonna break your heart.

Good. I'm happy that you realize that. I can sympathize with you thar. I know it's hard to move on, especially on 1st loves, but it's your life and your health, if you feel it's not a good relationship for you, it could ultimately make you sick. There are many good men out there, you just have to open your heart and eyes to see all the beauty there is. No offense, but readin' previous posts, Joe needs help, medically...and you are waaaay waaaaaaay too forgivin'.

Ummm, I don't really know all the details and 'all, but have you ever stopped and thought IS JOE GOOD ENUF FOR YOU?! Seriously, just not you but what's with gurls sayin' all this stuff how they're not good enuf for guys? I mean, sure, everyone have someone they love a lot, but if the relationship is mutual and all, then you should think you're good enuf for each other.

It's not that you're not good enough for him, HE'S not good enough for YOU! If he's telling you this, that he wants to leave and never come back and not tell anyone when he does it... he doesn't deserve you.

I hope I don't seem harsh, but he's starting to sound like the type of guy you want to stay away from.

You would be more than good enough for me! But seriously, it isn't right that you are feeling this way, it's an awful, painful feeling. It can be hard to be strong and stand up for what you want and need when you're so in love and make the other person your world.
