“Why am I surprised?” Sesshomaru couldn’t find his daughter between the fox demons, as they arrived at the village of Senzaikyu by the end of the day. Jaken came right after him, mumbling apologies that were simply ignored by the demon lord. At that moment, he had concerns greater than her act of defiance.
Like the demon who waited them at the village’s entrance.
“Lord Sesshomaru? I wasn’t expecting your family”, the tall, red-haired demon said. He wore a black and red armor over a black costume, brought a black-hilted katana at his waist and had red and orange tattoos over the left side of his face.
“Who is him?”, Soji whispered.
“He’s Houji, chief of the fire demons’ tribe, from the east”, Jaken explained. “Stop staring, kid, he’s dangerous!”
“Are you here to reconsider my last proposal?”, the warrior asked, sarcastic.
“We were invited by the Tamaya to the festival. So it was you who challenged them?”
“Yes. And I was starting to think that they wouldn’t have to guts to show up.”
“Because you sent your men to steal their fireworks, didn’t you?”, Yume asked, stepping forward. “That’s why you’re so confident!”
“Teach your wife not to make unfounded accusations against your allies, will you, Sesshomaru?”
“You are not my ally”, the demon lord replied, his cold eyes staring at Houji. “And the accusations are not unfounded. I sensed your tribe’s smell at the place where the Tamaya were attacked. Hope that I don’t find out that you had something to do with it.”
And entered the village followed by the fox demons’ caravan. After greeting the Tamaya’s leader formally, Houji called one of his warriors to him.
“I’m going to ask it just once. Where are my sons?”
