Oh joy, so that did end up becoming a full blown up drama fest. Honestly, people need to learn to think instead of getting their panties in a twist. That kind of over reaction is just painfully stupid and juvenile. I'm glad you put an end to it.
Really? Then its truly sad that things gotten in such a proportion. I mean, if the art isn't there after you report it that only means the mods did their job well and you should be happy with that fact.
So why continue with it? Did they want this member banned? Sure it would make sense but then, we had similar cases before and I had situations when people stole my art (even my avatar) and I talked with them, showing them all the proofs necessary to show that this is mine and I did it. And I did it with calm and not upfront accusing them. Most of the times they end up apologizing and everythings fine.
I'm sure if you guys have decided that this member should stay then I'd trust your judgment and would get on with my life.
Heh perhaps not everyone thinks and acts the same, I guess.
The worst is, whoever came and saw the drama will have the worst idea about the artist community and that's sad and shameful, really.

If you think about it now they really didn't accomplish anything rather than creating a huge drama over and the accused member was lashed while he/she quietly removed all the stolen artwork from her gallery before you guys came in action. If they stayed calmed and told you, they would definitely have more proof and it would be far better to everyone.
Actually, and this is what makes this case so ironic, the artwork was reported and I am the one who removed the stolen art. And yet in spite of my dealing with it, these members still decided to create a huge fuss over it. o_O
So proof was never an issue, it was people allowing their emotions to get the better of them. They assumed the member removed the art when I am the one who did so. They created a huge fuss over absoutely nothing. Sometimes a thief removes stuff before I can get to it, but not in this case.
Like I said many many times before, I'm really happy with the work you guys do on this site. Yes, it sucks to have your art stolen, it happened to me too, many many times before. If you think about it now they really didn't accomplish anything rather than creating a huge drama over and the accused member was lashed while he/she quietly removed all the stolen artwork from her gallery before you guys came in action. If they stayed calmed and told you, they would definitely have more proof and it would be far better to everyone.
Believe me when I say this, I truly, truly hope that this situation helps others to learn how to act as much civilized as possible even if it major sucks to do it. Its the most honnorable way anyway.
Thanks once again for making this place better. =)
Oh, no wonder I got a whole lot of new hugs and favorites on my fanword. XD I was wondering what happened. Now I know. o_O It's a shame that people got all worked up though. It really is best to just let you guys take care of it. ^^
Oh definitely, it has been a while since we've had such a drama fest here. And yes, it was a chain reaction and a clear example of why it's best to just quietly report something and let us take care of it.
I understand perfectly that the artists were just frustrated, but they let their emotions get the better of them and I hope they all learned from that mistake.
We certainly don't need another drama fest like that again. Heh.
Dramariffic is right. People emoted instead of being logical and rational about the whole affair. So I've had to spend way more time dealing with that crap than removing the stolen works ever took.
It's kind of sad when the people who were stolen from, are more of a problem than the thief ever was.
I never seen such a big fuss in the otaku since we changed to V.V a long time ago,and maybe it´s even more .I think the bad combination of some of the most known artists in the site made a lot of their friends go wild and made a bit to cruel comments. It was a chain reaction that lead to this event.
When the death threats started the things really went to far.The user probably is a little kid with little sense of "ownership" .
Looks like I missed the drama. o_O Though I can kind of guess what went down. Looks like people got all dramariffic over theft instead of just reporting it and letting you take care of it.
It's gone now since they deleted it. Apparently it's fine to publicly point towards someone (regardless of it resulting in others jumping on the bandwagon and threatening the member), but not okay when I point out how that makes them look like an immature child.
I'm a bit disappointed that two of them don't even have the decency to apologize for the uproar they helped create. Sure they were just expressing their feelings, but at the same time, that doesn't absolve them from the responsiblity of their actions.
Considering some of the other crap that happened that I had to deal with, I would have been well within my rights to temp ban them for that melodramatic nonsense.
I just hope that other people who saw what happened, will learn from it and not make the same mistake that these artists did.
I saw what you did on the front page with the one fan art. No matter how angry it makes them, there is no excuse for starting a riot. I'm glad you nipped that embarrassing drama in the bud.
o_o I'm not sure what happened. I'll have to look at that fan art you linked too. I do know that if I see something stolen, I just report it and then let the moderators deal with it. ^^
The death threats were on their portfolio so you read fine, just the wrong place. ;)
I don't see anything wrong with being upset that one's art was taken, I've had people do that to me. It's only a problem when they allow their emotions to get the better of them and lash out at the person.
Quietly reporting it is always best. Some places, like here, will remove it and others don't. It's great when they do, but at the same time, I don't consider it worth getting that angry over.
They didn't even give me enough time to respond to the complaints. The stolen work was taken down within a few days so they completely and totally overacted.
Though if anything, it serves as a good example of why we recommend people just quietly report it and let us do our jobs. Otherwise, we end up with unnecessary drama fests like this one.
I wish more people would think first. lol I already pm'd the members who posted the art and two of them edited it to remove the name of the member, so I'm pleased with that.
But gosh, it just goes to show how a mob mentality can get ugly real quick. I think I may edit the site terms to include a link to Sabrina's fan word on reporting plagiarism.
And yes, I'm quite pleased to see someone using their head instead of emoting. Heh

So about art thievery, huh? I read two things about that yesterday. I didnt read anything about them wanting the thief to die though. I guess i dont read well enough.
I would be mad if my art got stolen and no one cared. I mean, if my art got stolen i'd also be flattered. xD
I dont think i'd be like that though. Its more like i'd send something to someone who can actually do something about it.
Yeah saw that, it got out of proportion really quickly. I was tempted to step in more but I could never do such a great job like UnknownRumors have done. He/she should be given a medal of calming down the mob. Seriously.
