I heard about the incident in SLC. Something along the lines of 27,000 customers without any service on account of that. o_O You know whoever hit the line is in serious trouble for that. I am glad they fixed it quickly for you though. Now all they need to do is figure mine out and I'll be set.

It's a shame when they don't keep communication lines open and it leads to frustration like you've had. How they think it went back to you again is beyond me.
As for my own experience with them, all of SLC had no Cable or Internet the other day. I'd whack Comcast, but apparently some idiot running a fork lift in a construction area along I-80 nicked one of the fiber optic lines for the area.
My understanding is that not only did they have to close a section of the freeway down to clean the mess up, but that it also took them over two hours to run a new line to replace the one that was damaged.
So like you, I don't blame them for things out of their control. They did get that back up pretty quickly, which was good. Either way, I hope they finally figure it out and get your service back in order.
Ah, okay. What you're saying makes sense. I had lots of issues that were directly their fault (not wear or 3rd party damage) which doesn't seem to be the case with you (and I'm glad about that). I do hope things get resolved soon because switching to another provider with less features would not be fun though I also agree that it's senseless to pay for broken service (which is why we switched).
To put it simply, good luck with your internet issues!
And that's one of the biggest issues I've had with Comcast. But beyond that, even when it worked correctly, from a technical standpoint it was flawed (for me anyway). For instance, our package had us paying for 6600 kbps download bandwidth but on a good day, we'd get around 2000. This is just the way Comcast works around here. If that wasn't the case for you, that's great, but I've never had much luck with them.
That I honestly don't know since I don't check what our current speeds are. I've never had issues with things being slow so I never checked that.
As for your point about them fixing stuff, you're right - it is good that they usually got things working is a plus but should you be paying for a service that requires fixing so often to begin with?
Perhaps I should clarify on fixing stuff. Two years ago, we had a similar problem, it took a while but they fixed it. The other times were relatively minor issues. Like connections that had corroded or a line that needed to be replaced because they guys installing siding on the house decided to shove the extra up under the siding and kink the cable.
I don't consider a blunder by the siding guys or normal wear due to weather a problem generated by Comcast. If that makes any sense. So those type of issues were easily addressed and I consider them normal maintenance where this problem is the second time we've had a more serious issue.
And by serious I mean related to the nodes and lines running through the neighborhood vs equipment at our house. In all this time we've only had issues with that twice in our area.
A lot of this is my hatred for Comcast coming out so please excuse me for not being able to give you an unbiased opinion.
No worries. I hardly expect you to be unbiased since I don't know how they operate where you are located. I just know that other than what I consider normal issues, they have been pretty reliable and I've been pleased with the service. But at the same time, I know others who have gotten lots of grief.
Oh, and just out of curiosity, what are your other options?
Right now I'm looking at local companies and ones like Qwest. I just need to find out if they'll actually support what we like to be able to access Internet wise.
Either way, if it's not resolved, first of next year, we'll be going with someone else regardless. Since it's pointless to pay for something that doesn't work right at nights. Their repairs have improved the problem quite a bit, but we shouldn't be getting drop offs still. XP

I've had people tell me to go play violent video games and kill stuff to relieve stress. It doesn't really get rid of the stress, but playing games does help to get my mind off of whatever is bothering me...
BUT!
The game I'm currently playing and would have used for 'distracting me from stress' actually requires a connection that isn't utter crap half the time. ._.
*headdesk*
So I end up logging out for the night and doing other stuff that I normally do during the day. Which does help, but still ticks me off since the idea of paying for a service is so you can do things when it's most convenient for you.

What frustrates me the most is we've used them for years and though dealing with customer service is a pain, they've always fixed things and the service used to always work well. Hell even now during the day it works fine.
But the continual drop offs at night shouldn't, in my opinion, take them over a month to figure out and still not be fixed even when they claim it is.
It's really annoying because until this incident, I would have said their service was fine. =_= Not anymore though, they didn't even offer to partially refund us for the month we had service that didn't work right half the time. They just kept our money.
People also say punching pillows helps relieve stress, so I tried it one time, and it just made me angrier the more I hit it because it wasn't actually doing anything.
That really sucks. But maybe Petie's right..? At this point I don't know if the company's really willing to fix the problem if what he's saying is right.
I'm sorry your still having trouble here. However, now that I see who your ISP is, I can't say I'm surprised. I was once afflicted with the curse known as Comcast and try as I might, I can't think of even a single good thing to say about them or their service. I'd go into detail but I'm sure you've experienced it all and more.
As soon as FiOS was available, we switched. Literally, at the exact second it was launched, we had a Verizon guy at our house. Best decision we ever made regarding ISPs. So, I guess what I'm trying to say in a really round-about way is that if you can find another ISP that provides a reasonable service (or at least one you can live with), jump on it because your problems will never end until you do.
You know what I did with my net company? I talked for over an hour or two about how frustrated I was, I didn't swear or anything, I just simply let myself loose and told them how angry, frustrated, disappointed and I threatened them by saying if they didn't fix it I would move to another one, I hate being like that but ya know what?
It worked! My net is now working at full speed all the time.
Sometimes being nice doesn't work, show them how you really are feeling and let it loose for over an hour or so. I did feel much better after that XD
*hugs*
