Only vampire anime I've watched is Trinity Blood. I like the story line and the animation is pretty neat. Otherwise, I'm just not into vampires at all.
Eh... My sister has the first anime series and I watched it and even I could tell it felt like they were going one way and then went another. But go ahead and watch it. ^^ If you like it then maybe you can go on to watching the new version. 8D
I haven't gotten far enough to see it in the show. I don't really hate fanservice, but it seems like they've just done it to do it. And that always has me sighing. Unless it's done in a manner to make you laugh, that's usually more tolerable. :p
At least the overall story so far is amusing. I'm only to episode seven though so that could change I'm sure.
I agree, they could have left that bit out altogether. It only served to make the main villain less imposing. He just seemed like a cheap trick they tossed in at the last moment. Made me cringe a bit. XP

Heheh, I randomly watched Karin when I was in Japan (procrastinating *cough*), and I'm not the type to get into vampire stuff either. It was decent though.
But, if you don't like fanservice... ehh, oh well. Karin has some, even in the show itself, in case you haven't noticed/gotten that far yet.

The thing that really annoyed me about Tsukihime is that it wastes like 2-3 episodes with that retarded mini-boss vampire who sucked (pun not intended) instead of going with the main villain from the start. It doesn't have much room the maneuver, so why waste time with that loser? Bugged the hell out of me.

I noticed that Nightwalker show you watched so I went and found it too. :D I also have Tsukihime which I should watch at some point.
I would say try to watch the new Hellsing: Ultimate as it's more faithful to the manga, but it isn't finished yet. The only problem with the original Hellsing anime was it went off on a tangent scine the manga wasn't complete at the time.
Hellsing intimidates me. I don't think I'd have the courage to watch it. XD
Fan service just for the sake of fan service always annoys me. Even fan service that might conceivably serve some purpose for character development annoys me. It's just unnecessary. .-.

Nice to see you're still out there, by the way.

Hellsing's anime is crap. Don't watch it. Instead, grab the manga if you can because that is where the true goodness lies.
And I've seen both. Trust me when I say that the anime is far too Japanese and takes a lot of the darkness out of the series.
I think I ranted about it once, actually.
Also, Vampire Knight is schoolkid drama, which is why it's currently so popular. =P Pretend it's another Disney show and you should get the picture.

I haven't read the manga so if it does go on a tangent, won't bother me any. :p

I rarely watch anything with Vampires in it. I get grossed out too easily. XD
