I've never read a Sherlock Holmes novel before but they have to be famous for a reason! The closest I've come to Sherlock Holmes is the Animaniacs episode where they were having him help them find clues to a scavenger hunt.

That caption came in my head after I read your post. ^_^
Most of the stories I have read are the adaptations. Yeah, the originals are usually much more fun to read, specially if you have the time to go through thick pages.
I've never read that series either and I plan on reading it over the holidays actually. Sir Allamorph recommended it a while back.
I've seen some adaptations of it but my understanding is that they add stuff in it that's not really in the books. So I'm curious to see the difference.

I've also seen a lot of movies and TV adaptations of Conan Doyle (my family is particularly partial to the TV series starring the late Jeremy Brett as Holmes), but the only one of the original stories I've read is Hound of the Baskervilles.

I've been meaning to read those books, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I plan on it though. Perhaps I'll do so over the holiday. Heh.

My sister has all or most of the Sherlock Holmes books as well.
I need to get around to reading some of those books she keeps suggesting to me. :/
Fun fact: Holmes never says in the books, "Elementary, my dear Watson!"
