Hmm, not too much of the back story there, but let's see... The guard said that he dreamed that, but did he actually? Bosses are usually very stubborn, it could be that he knew later on that he was payed to kill him and he could do that easily because he was his boss. BUT on the other hand, the boss actually could be tankful for that as we can see that he gave him the bonus and thanked him. Firing him would mean.. That he feared for his life and thinking that he could be in danger because of other people who were behind that.
OR, on none realistic way of looking, like from the recent movie that I watched, that guard could see future and tragedies and any that is near him. If he wouldn't be near his boss, that would never happen gain. But that's an off explanation anyway... XD

Yup, HP sure ends sad. I still didn't get the chance to see the movie, but I remember from the book. Poor Snape, especially after hearing his full past.. ;w;
