The Exams

Finally, it was time. Everyone was at the big stadium… Yukari was anxious and Shikamaru, well… Yeah, he wished he never even woke up. Anyway, the first match was between Yukari and a grass nin which she easily won. Believe it or not, Shikamaru was cheering the loudest for her. Her rich blue eyes gleaming vigorously in the sun… Then, the grass nin got up and stabbed her in the back! Yukari fell to the ground, gasping, coughing up blood. Shikamaru was in a panic, but not even breathe could escape his throat… The grass nin held his kunai up high.

(No…) And started to lower it… “No.” Yukari to weak to dodge… “NOOOOO!!!” Shikamaru finally shouted. He jumped down and rushed to her rescue. He threw himself over her at last second, and got stabbed himself… “GAH!” Pain shot up Shikamaru’s spine. He looked up at the attacker. “PLEASE! Please don’t hurt her… I’m begging you. Please, the match is over. You shouldn’t attack her now.” “Give me a reason why I should let her live…” “I-…. I. Yukari.” He looked at her, his heart heavy. “I’m sorry I lied to you…” He whispered to her. He faced the grass nin again. “I love her.” “Say it loud so everyone can hear.” Shikamaru hesitated for a moment… (Should I…?) “I LOVE HER!!!” He bellowed. “Fine. I don’t go back on my word… But I will kill you, one day...” The grass nin disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Shikamaru and Yukari kneeled in front of each other… “Look… I-I’m sorry! I’ll never lie aga-!” “Shut up.” Hurt, Shikamaru bowed his head. She pushed it back up. “I love you too.” They kissed.
