Hello Anime fans!
I came across this fun place when I found an old friend who was my long time crush and anime "dealer" back in high school. I'll save her the embarrassment of my singling her out and just come clean with who I am and what I do.
I'm a journalist who has worked for my college and a major newspaper in Arizona. Using my web knowledge when it was "hard" for people to make websites in the 90's I made a small business making websites for people and that has blossomed into professional blogging, amongst other things.
I've just started two publishing companies, one to assist college students publish political articles and another to publish works of fantasy, science fiction and horror books. A third company is going to be breaking ground shortly wherein things like Zombie Movies, Cookbooks, Dancing and Martial Arts are all fair game for publishing and video production work.
Basically, I keep busy.
I have a fancy blog over at http://www.tekyu.com where I host all my freshest blatherings about thing ranging from movies, to toys, to videogames, to anime, comic books and beyond. Some of my closest friends assist me in some of these ramblings or fire off some of their own to add some measure of rationality between my rants. It's a fund place full of frothy nerd rage, please check it out.
I've been around since 1980 so I have some significant experience as to when anime became "a thing" and after my darling dealer whet my appetite, I went somewhat crazed as an anime collector, columnist, and quotable expert on some of the best and brightest of the anime that stormed into American shores during the 90's. All I can do is pass on what I know and I hope you'll forgive my relaxed and ranty writing style as I convey what anime knowledge rattling around in my head.
I may also just rant in general, so please be gentle and do not hesitate to comment. I've been away from the flock for awhile, meaning I haven't been in touch with current anime in at least 8-9 years because I've been working my brains out, getting married, losing my father and otherwise having an interesting time just coping with life.
I have some amazing friends involved with local Arizona conventions who are helping me back onto the path of the informed anime fan and I hope to relay what I learn to hopefully benefit or entertain everyone else.
As for Favorites, none rates higher in my heart than the original Bubblegum Crisis and I won't hesitate to share my overwhelming addiction to this superb specimen of japanese animation. Well, except Urusei Yatsura which I feel ranks as the finest anime series of all time.
Other than that classics like Tekkaman Blade, Yu Yu Hakusho, Guyver, Ranma 1/2, Patlabor, Dragonball, Sailor Moon and more haunt my memories like greasy, nostalgic spectres that cry out for more exposure in my mind.
