Dragonball Teaser Trailer Out Today

Dragonball Teaser Trailer Out Today

How many of you are Dragonball fans? I have only seen a few episodes but it's a series that has been remarkably successful. Just take a look here to learn more: Dragonball. For those of you who are unaware of this, the live-action Dragonball film hits theaters April 10, 2009. One of the first trailer's for this is out and the discussion as to your thoughts on it has begun at OtakuBoards. So far the fans are not impressed. Those of us who are not fans are not impressed.

In addition to failing to be true to the series, the trailer comes across as a very flat attempt by Hollywood to create another cookie cutter 'figher/TV series' wanna be movie. If you haven't seen it yet, head over to OtakuBoards and check it out.

I don't know about you, but Hollywood could stand to create something either more true to the original or better yet, something that actually is original.

What was your first manga?

What was your first manga?

One thing I've noticed since I became a member here, is that the very first thing people ask is what's your favorite series or what's the first anime show you saw. Just about no one ever asks what your favorite manga is or which one you read first.

I find this rather interesting since there's a lot of stories out there that don't get made into a full animation. So obviously the only way you can access these stories is by reading the manga.

When a series is animated, there can often be a huge difference between the two. Like DNAngel and Yu-Gi-Oh. Both of them have quite a bit of material that didn't make it into the actual anime based on that series.

Anyway, one of the first manga's I ever read was Yu-Gi-Oh. How about you? If you haven't had a chance yet, head on over to OtakuBoards and take the time to check out the thread on this topic. It's always interesting to see which manga's people read first.

lolmembers

lolmembers [Game]

I’m sure many of you are fans of the popular website lolcats. I’m quite sure that I’m not the only one to visit it daily to see the newest captions and fun pictures. To add a new twist to a very enjoyable pastime: long time OtakuBoards member Gavin created a thread where you find a lolcat that reminds you of a fellow member!

This is a must see, especially if you’re a member of OtakuBoards. If you’re not, go and take a look to see what you’re missing out on. And if you know of a perfect image that fits one of your friends there, don’t forget to log in and post it!

Finally Getting Started

I created this world to continue what I had been doing with my mother over at OtakuBoards. We were running a newspaper for the boards. The concept was fun, but sadly the format was a bit limiting. It didn't help that other commitments in real life got in the way for everyone who was helping out.

Anyway, my next step since I enjoyed working on that was to create a world where I, along with any others who are interested, could post brief snippets about what's going on over at OtakuBoards. Ideally, much like the official OtakuBoards world, it would cover threads and events of interest.

However, it's open to far more than that. Just what I'm not sure, I'm open to suggestions on this. Anyway, to get it started I'll be talking about something that's current in the section I moderate over at OtakuBoards. ^_^

Fall '08 Anime Season

If you're not sure what to check out this fall in the anime scene, why not start by seeing what new series other fans are watching? Long time member of OtakuBoards Shinmaru started a thread listing some of the newest shows airing in Japan this fall.

I recommend taking the time to check the thread out in addition to joining the discussion if you happen to be watching one of the shows listed. I know I plan on it since I want to see the anime Tales of the Abyss.
