40. Rated:
"Wow, he was sexy." Epona glanced over her shoulder at the man who had walked by.
Alek bristled and she patted his arm gently.
"Don't worry, you rate number one in my heart and everywhere else."
41. Teamwork:
Octavian was borderline intelligent and Fricka was borderline insane. He planned, she charged in headfirst. Watching them learn teamwork was amusing at best.
42. Standing Still:
Hans smirked. Standing still was a novelty for the twins; the promise of a treat however, had turned them both into silent little statues.
43. Dying:
Despite being immortal, Fricka feared death. But she feared dying alone even more.
44. Two Roads:
They had stood at a branching of two roads that night and looking back, Alek was glad he had taken the one less traveled, for it had led him to her.
45. Illusion:
Dolph grabbed the bottle as she dropped it, cocked her fist and let fly. The illusion shattered into a thousand fragments and he was glad he could be there to pull the pieces out of her heart.
46. Family:
Family wasn't always who was blood related to you but the people you surrounded yourself with that you knew you could always fall back on. Fricka hadn't realized that her men were her family.
47. Creation:
He looked at his wife, wearing the delicate necklace he had made, then around at the room of the castle he had built. His eyes drifted back to the twins, cuddled in-front of the fire together and smiled. They were his favorite creation.
48. Childhood:
As a child, he had suffered senseless abuse, the knowledge that his mother had died before he could even suckle, and notoriety from villagers simply because he had been born a Kasbaarg. He swore that his offspring would have the best childhood he could possibly give them.
49. Stripes:
He laughed when she woke up with stripes imprinted on her face from his pant leg. She laughed when he woke up with black ink painted across his face.
50. Breaking the Rules:
"You're breaking the rules of the game!" Octavian sulked, glaring up at his sister, high in a tree.
"Screw the rules." she replied.
You guys. Reading my themes. And commenting. Makes me so friggin' happy ; _ ;
Not quite halfway done with them, so there will be more today. I'm really really glad you're enjoying them and getting some insight into the family other than Kas being the general b*tch that she is today.
Also, if you'd like to see one of the themes turned into a short story, say something and I'll write something.
So yes. Really though, thank you.
*skips off to write more*
31. Flowers:
Alek had always loved flowers, ever since he was a little boy. In the short summer months, Rolf was always overwhelmed by the flowers that Alek brought back for him; half wilted and crushed by his grubby little hands. Fricka, it seemed, had inherited her father's love of flowers and Rolf could only smile as she offered him a wilting bouquet of flowers, clutched tightly in dirty little hands.
32. Night:
They said that at that time of night was when the demons came out. Silly bar talk of course. Fricka paid it no mind. She was far scarier than any demon after that many drinks.
33. Expectations:
Dolph found out that Fricka had certain expectations of him, being he was her second in command now. One of these was to give out hugs and kisses and he discovered that these usually led to loss of clothing. He liked her expectations.
34. Stars:
Leaning over her, he discovered that he could see the stars in her eyes...until she pushed him over and pointed up, "Make a wish."
35. Hold My Hand:
"Fricka, hold my hand."
"Yes Daddy."
She grasped his hand and he helped her across the stream.
"Da...Da...please, don't let go."
She sobbed and clung to his hand, long after it had gone limp.
36. Precious Treasure:
As a little girl, Fricka loved collecting things and stashing them under the bed. She called them her treasures. But now, as she kissed baby Brindle's head, she knew there could never be a more precious treasure than her own son.
37. Eyes:
He loved looking into her eyes while they lay in bed together and she loved looking into the eyes of an enemy right before her sword took off his head.
38. Abandoned:
Han's pointedly stared straight ahead while he sipped his evening cup of coffee. He knew if he looked down, she would be giving him those abandoned puppy eyes and his resolve to be mad at her would crumble.
39. Dreams:
When she had good dreams, she cuddled close. When she had bad dreams, he woke up on the floor with black eyes and bloodied noses.
~~~~~~~~
Fluff...so much fluff. (I know these aren't exactly ten each...but I can't count.)
21. Vacation:
The twins had never seen the ocean before so Alek and Epona delighted in their excited chatter and squeals of joy as they experienced the cold roiling water that stretched on as far as the eye could see. Epona had never romped on a bed of moss in a forest and Alek took delight in making her as breathless as she made him. It was the best vacation ever.
22. Mother Nature:
Octavian hung onto his sister for dear life as they thundered through the forest, Fricka intent on out running the storm. The wind sang in his ears and thunder shook the very fibers of his being. Lightening split the sky and Fricka's hair whipped him in the face as the big grey gelding flew over a log. Before he hid his face in her shirt, he caught a glimpse of her face. She was smiling and he knew she was telling Mother Nature to screw herself.
23. Cat:
She smiled at him across the table and he choked on his coffee as her foot slid up his leg. She could make him feel like a mouse and he didn't mind at all if she was the cat.
24. No Time:
There was no time for doors.
Fricka blew another one down and and sprinted into the labs, screaming Octavian's name.
There was no time to think.
Arnulfa slashed through scientists as she raged at them.
There was no time for tears.
She hugged him close and desperately tried to save him.
There was no time.
25. Trouble Lurking:
Octavian had trouble lurking. Fricka did not. Rolf wished that she did.
26. Tears:
Someone had once told her that all your tears were kept in a bottle. As she stared at the bottle of vodka and wiped her face, she figured that she had a barrel of tears somewhere.
27. Foreign:
As Rolf handed the two, tiny little bundles to him, Alek reflected how foreign it was to feel so incredibly in love with things he had never even seen before.
28. Sorrow:
He would never forget the sorrow he felt at his first kill. Fricka was un-phased, at least outwardly. He had sat and cried until his tears washed the blood from his face and said he was sorry over and over until Alek had found him and taken him home.
29. Happiness:
For her, happiness was riding the back of the wind. For him, happiness was wrapping his arms around her and waking up the same way.
30. Under the Rain:
Dolph had grabbed her and kissed her under the rain; she was wet, tired and aching...and didn't mind at all.
11. Memory:
A memory was all she had to cling to anymore...that and a vodka bottle. Dolph just wished she would cling to him instead.
12. Insanity:
Octavian was sure he was about to suffer from insanity as Fricka stormed across the battle field towards him, sword in hand. One didn't have to be insane after all, to suffer from it.
13. Misfortune:
Fricka blamed misfortune for falling into him and knocking them both over the drop off.. Dolph blamed the vodka and as he held her against his chest at the bottom of the drop, he was glad it had happened.
14. Smile:
There was one thing Alek looked forward to most of all as he rode into the courtyard and dismounted; his wife's beautiful smile and it warmed his heart knowing she smiled like that only for him.
15. Silence:
The twins ran into the kitchen, squealing and laughing as Laurie ran after them and Fricka gave a shriek when he swooped her up into the air. Rolf rubbed his temples and closed his journal with a smile. The castle had been wrapped in silence for far too long.
16. Questioning:
As Alek held out the delicate silver ring, Epona tilted her head with a questioning gaze. Why would he want to marry her?
17. Blood:
It ran down the Arnulfa in rivulets, soaked the ground, stained clothes, splattered across flanks and haunches and gushed up between Octavian's teeth as he fed. Fricka licked the blood that ran down her arm and mused as she watched him. Blood had always fascinated her.
18. Rainbow:
"Da what's that?" Fricka pointed up in the sky at the rainbow that stretched over the valley.
"A rainbow."
"I want to be a rainbow." Octavian said and Alek laughed.
"Why?"
"So I can be pretty and spread over everything!"
19. Gray:
Epona ran her fingers through her husband's hair, exhaling softly as he scattered kisses down her stomach. Suddenly she gave a laugh and he yelped as she plucked a hair and held it up for his surprised eyes to see. A single grey hair. The color drained from his face and she rolled over laughing into the pillow.
20. Fortitude:
Octavian always admired Laurie's fortitude to brave any storm; that included his sister hanging off his arm by her teeth while he wrote in his journal without even batting an eye.
