Actually most of the manga I talked about are pretty normal (by manga standards anyways)
Donyatsu is the closest to being a weird for weirdness sake series and even that isn't as odd as it could have been and most of the jokes are cat or pastry related so thats always cute!
The truly weird and/or disturbing manga is when you get into alternative and experimental manga. Kago Shintaro is famous for his... very mature and disturbing works (google him with extreme caution... his stuff is... well... bizarre and mature) Not all alternative manga is mature but they are all very... well I'm going to say interesting, and thats when you get to "well this is too weird for me!" stuff. Most of these are short series or one shots and Japan has a thriving alternative comic scene thats got some cool work and differs alot from the American comic world's alternative scene.
lol google is an awesome and terrifying thing! XD
I find most of my series by just browsing around on manga sites or looking for manga in a favorite genre. Donyatsu I found by chance as it had just updated and I happened to click on it to see what it was about. ^^;; lol
Right?! Where do I find this stuff?! Even I wonder how I found them half the time!
And believe it or not all very real... and not the weirdest things I've seen in manga... >.>
(I think the snail people, udon woman and businessman whales might be a tad higher)
As for whether they're good... it depends on what kind of manga you like.
Donyatsu was very funny (and frankly worth reading just so you can say you did) but I'm not that into that kind of humor/gag manga so I only read parts.
Tokyo ESP is great! I loved it.
I'm still in the process of reading Kyoukai no Rinne but I'm really enjoying it.
Global Garden is just so bizarre and I ended up reading the entire series just so I could understand what was going on! That ones again, not my cup of tea, but I think shoujo fans (especially those who like some scifi fantasy) would find a lot to love in it!
Centaur no Nayami is very funny and cute, you do have to wade through some fan service-y stuff but nothing anywhere near bad (in whats shown) and the world is just so well thought out... like how do people with horns that wrap around their head brush their hair? They answer that and many other questions and thats whats really fun about the series.
