To be honest, I don't think it matters WHO it is, if you don't want to go, you aren't obliged to go.
P.S: I think it is spelled "quincenera". (You had 2 'r's)

I decided not to go because theres an art festival on the same day near the same time that my art may be in. I'm pretty excited
