You know, when I read this, I thought of the master of haiku Matsuo Basho. He had written a similar haiku, concerning (at least, on the surface imagery) a lone tree that is not among its kind. The haiku is intended to embody or convey sabi (subdued solitude, in a sense). If this makes me (and perhaps others) think of Basho, you are headed in a direction which some can only dream of.
Semicolons are not rigid grammatical devices as teachers and dry academic-grammarians like to think they are; unexpressed "connections" can be read with them.

Well... I'm not really used to getting strong emotional reactions from readers. I don't think my writing is all that emotional in the first place (probably due to years of only writing essays), which is why I've never attempted to write angst or anything like that.
I don't know. I guess I'm just not used to it. ^^;;

@Pleiades Rising:
Wow, I'm not sure what to say to that. I'm flattered of course, though I can't help but think that your compliment is a little high.
But thank you for the kind words, in any case. ^^

I'm sorry. I just don't like seeing you get upset over my poems, so I was trying to cheer you up a bit. (Though I guess I failed at that. ._.;;)

Better to abuse the semicolon than to never use it at all, I say!
