Yeah, I have not heard of many WWI movies myself -- at least, nowhere near the volume of WWII and Vietnam movies. If you're interested in WWI movies, the 1930 version of All Quiet on the Western Front is highly regarded, although I actually haven't seen it.
I haven't seen many WW1 war films, and this one really does sound like the motherload for 'em. It was very much a 19th Century war fought with 20th Century weapons, and the old mentalities never really left the old officers.
This film sounds like it captures that point really well. I shall have to watch this some day soon . . .
