Welcome to my little corner of The Otaku!

Let me introduce myself. I sign my art as "Kasey-chan", so feel free to call me that. My interest in drawing started when my sister and I went down to the book store and we discovered How-To-Draw-Anime books. It took off from there.
When I'm not scribbling away I am pursuing work in theatrical properties, spending way too much time on Netflix, watching too much TV, and wishing radioactive waste really did give people superpowers.

Here's some of my favorite things :).

Anime: Miyazaki's works, Tokyo Godfathers, Astro Boy (2003)
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin and Hana Kimi
American Cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
TV Shows: Merlin (BBC), Firefly, Mystery Science Theater 3000

What a Wonderful Waste of a Day

So today I did absolutely nothing worthwhile. Nothing, that is, except for drawing. I drew a lot. Mostly a Tsubasa fan art that I might submit for that one contest. I was into Tsubasa a long time ago, when they just first started coming out in the US. Never managed a fan art of it in all that time, so I figured might as well revisit it now. Its so weird that it's become popular fairly recently... I'm wondering now when Zetsubou will become popular so I can actually buy the seasons on DVD haha.
So as soon as I get back to school and am reunited with my long lost scanner, you'll be seeing that. Along, of course, with all the other stuff I've been working on. :).
In the meantime, I'm introducing my younger brother to the wonderful world of Yu Gi Oh Abridged! This has been a good day :D.

So true!
have fun otakuing!

The Inkcapades

Okay, as most of you who have been my otkau buddy for a while know, I love love love Hana Kimi! So, like a good little Otaku, I went out and purchased Hisaya Nakajo's Hana Kimi art book. While reading it, I found that she uses colored ink to color her awesome pictures. I didn't even know there was such a thing as coloring ink, let alone a variety of colors! I always just figured that she used watercolors or something. Anyways, I saw this awesome colored ink set at Micheals yesterday, and on an impluse decided to buy it. I already had watercolor paper and was very excited to get started. I had this whole elaborate thing in my head of doing the Three Graces from Greek/Roman mythology. However, my sister wisely suggested something a bit less complex. So I decided to drawthe first idea that popped into my head. Surprisingly, I thought of The Scarlet Letter. If any of you don't know what that is, it's an old classic written by Nathaniel Hawthorne about a Puritan Adultress and her life living witht he consequenses of her sin. I remembered it because it was one of the only books I liked reading in school. So I decided to a sort of manga cover for the scarlet letter.
Working with ink was acctually quite entertaining, although I didn't get very far at all. My fav. color as of now is black. It looks so awesome and for some reason, it's just more fun to paint with. It's a very dominating color. Red's kinda cool too, that is if I had a fire engine red. My red now is a strawberry red, but I guess that could work as far as skin tones and stuuf.
So enough of my ranting for now.
