Thanks to Requiem, I'll actually tune in to SyFy again

Wow...

I was more than a little surprised and excited when I discovered SyFy was going to air Requiem from the Darkness starting tonight. O3O

As stated in the news nugget on the front page, Requiem is a 13-episode series about a young author of children's riddles who decides to compile a collection of one hundred ghost stories. This leads him to become involved with a trio of supernatural investigators with potentially questionable motives as they travel the land punishing people for the worst sins and depravities.

This horror series came out in 2003 and has always flown under the radar. I never thought it would ever see play on American TV. Its dark and psychological, which I guess makes it a good substitute for Monster. The art style is its most notable feature. While some characters look perfectly normal, others are drawn in outlandish and quite surreal fashion, which definitely adds to the bizarre atmosphere the series is going for.

Requiem is one of those quirky little gems that I always love to find within anime. So if you're curious, definitely give it a try.

Observation: The Latest TV Trend

First it was reality shows like The Real World, Big Brother, and Survivor...

Then a million DIY spawn...

Then talent shows and competitions...

Now I think I've figured out what the next new trend in TV is, or at least wants to be. Survivorman and Man vs Wild must have been successful, because now it seems Discovery is investing in more survival shows, even thought the new ones seem more than a little... rinkydink to me. You've got Dual Survival, about two guys (one conventional, one more tree-huggerish) trying to survive together. And now there's going to be Man, Woman, Wild, which looks like a "let's throw some guy out in the wild with an Anna-Nicolish-looking woman and watch them survive."

My head hurts. -3-;
