I don't know why they decided to cut that and not something else. It was a cut to "six months later" looking into the lives of the family the Doctor had saved from being killed by the volcano.
The important bit was that the family had new household gods, and at the very end you see the stone plaque of those gods, and it's the Doctor, Donna, and the TARDIS.
yeah I guess but I rarely ever watch that much tv.... but why the last scene, its like a huge cliff hanger but with out the lead up to the next episode. XD
You know that someone truly cares when they brick you like that. -AZ
I don't think the first episode of Firefly ever actually aired, even in it's initial run on FOX. Firefly suffered the same lack of commintment from it's network that Crusade did from TNT.
I remember when SciFi was going to rerun Crusade, they boasted that it would be in the proper episode order... which it wasn't D:

I really hate when networks do that. Like with Firefly, Scifi didn't even show the first episode FIRST. They started on the second episode, therefore confusing everyone like crazy.
There's also the fact Nickelodeon hasn't been showing the latest episodes from Avatar season 3, even though it's already finished playing in Europe. When I heard that from my friend last night, I seriously thought, "WTF?"
So yes, quite annoying when networks do that, eh wot? At least there are ways to see the uncut stuff.
Editing and commercials = Pay less
No commercials and no editing = Pay more
eh I would go with all the edits and commercials because honestly if I saw the un-edited version and then the edited version I wouldnt notice the difference! XD

No matter how many times I've tried watching Battlestar, I can't stand it. It is so unendingly depressing, nihilistic, misanthropic... probably many other descriptives I could come up with.
It's just too much. Serious drama is good, but when it's a neverending downward spiral with no hope in sight, I just can't deal with it.
Agreed, thats annoying, it happens when I watch House actually. Usually our programs have ads every 15 minutes and they last about 3-4 mins. House, CSI and others that show on our channel 5, follow the format of 40mins worth of program stretched out in to an hour. Hence I get annoyed watching House because of all the bloody adverts they have to squeeze in to make it an hour long. I don't know how you people cope if that happens in all your programs!
Doctor Who fits neatly into the BBC 1's Saturday line up. You watch it on BBC 1 then turn over to BBC 3 to watch Dr Who confidential, which is usually 45mins long. Dr Who is then repeated the Sunday night and the following Friday, starting on the hour (8 or 9pm, on a Saturday in its first showing its usually 6.20pm) When its shown on BBC3 as a repeat on the hour, its 45mins of Dr Who, then the Confidential show is edited down to 15mins thus the hour is filled.
Why that's relevant, I'm not sure, but I thought I'd explain anyway.
Listen, we pay £130 a year to not have adverts on the BBC (and only the BBC channels, all others have adverts), and only a few like Dr Who make that money seem an acceptable amount. So no, we don't have to put up with adverts during Dr Who, but we pay for it

In the case of Doctor Who, the edits are just to squeeze commercials in, it has nothing to do with censor editing.
Sadly, when you squeeze 15-20 minutes worth of commercials into what was originally a 50-minute, commercial free show, that's when they evil editors decide what gets cut for time.
Neko Kouhai (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 05/03/08 | Reply
Doctor Who's commercial free over here. Heh heh heh. XD But I think the channel they show that here's the only one that doesn't edit shows or add commercials. You should see some of the other channels here. It's horrible. They start a show, about 10 minutes in add a commercial... Then when the commercial's over, they start the show from the beginning again. O.o They did that so many times it's not funny. x.x
I thought I had it bad with Lost's not airing here yesterday, what with the tornado warning coverage and all. At least that isn't habitual. I do feel your pain, though.

Thank you, anime! ;P

They're just putting the ads in there to get you to stick around for Battlestar Galactica. That's SciFi's ultimate agenda.
