I haven't been to the dentist ever since I got my braces off a year-and-a-half ago. I really should drop by more often, though, since I get two free check ups per year. >_>;;
Ah you sound like so calm when talking about dentist, dentist scares me so much. The last time I went to one, the dentist cut my lip while cleanning my teeth, which only made me get even more uncomfortable of going to one now.
You grind while you sleep? I've never heard some people could do that before. I mean, I know some people who do it while their nervous or stressed but never heard of doing it while sleeping.
It must be kind of painful when you wake up, I wonder...

My momma had to get a mouth guard; she grinds her teeth at night all the time. I do it too. I'll probably end up in the same boat as you someday.
But yeeesh, sounds like a lot more visits to come. Tis never really fun to go to the dentist, either.
Well, tis for your health. Unless you would prefer to avoid it all and get dentures at the age of 30. :P

Ow~! T.T Your teeth are fine~! Don't go to the dentist. T.T *clings* No pain for my senpai~!
... I need that night guard thingy too. I keep chipping pieces off this one tooth. o.o Oh and my uncle's teeth are perfectly straight... Coz he ground them so much. -_-'''
Which teeth didn't come in? Wisdom teeth? I have disproportion in my mouth too. Big teeth and small jaw. o.o Aaaaa~h! *opens mouth wide to show you*
:p You get use to a night guard, seriously. I have to wear one since medicine causes the side effect of grinding one's teeth while sleeping. Plus, depending on how bad one is at it, it can have the nice side benefit of preventing you from waking up with a headache. Something I don't miss at all.
I don't wear a anti-grinding guard anymore, but I did for a fairly extended period of time, and I can assure you that you get used to it. Even now, I feel oddly insecure going to sleep without popping anything into my teeth, haha.
But seriously, aside from the benefits that come with not grinding your teeth, it can actually help you get better & deeper sleep and wake up feeling more refreshed. Some types of guards function in that they force you to relax your facial and neck muscles instead of keeping them clenched all night long (this was the kind I had, since I also had some jaw issues at the time).
Ah, the dentist. I don't like them very much, but our dentist is my brother's friend's mom. So she's pretty nice to my family.
It's just all the white in the offices that kind of scares me. XD;;
Someone else who hates fluoride! Yeah!
I've never liked the taste, and ever since I tried the mouthwash type of fluoride a few years ago, I've hated fluoride with a passion. My stomach rejected the mouthwash-fluoride eagerly, causing my dinner (and most likely my lunch and breakfast) to leave me. Not fun. :B
I've always had problems with my gums getting inflamed. I think it's just the stupid braces I have, but whatever. I just need to bush more carefully. *shrugs*
Good luck with getting you dental problems worked out!
(Wearing a mouth-guard at night would irritate me to no end. I'm surprised you'd be able to stand it!)
Random coincidence. I went to the dentist on Friday after a long hiatus (no dental plan right now). I enjoy the flouride, though, 'cause I'd like to think the pros outweight the half hour of not eating, drinking, or rinsing.
Mostly he just wants me to brush more times a day - but yeah, I was once told about the clenching teeth thing too, so I always think about that more during the day.

So it's not all bad. ^^

@TimeChaser:
I'll remember that retainer tip for when I get one. Every night I'll say to myself, "If even Timerchaser is regretting it, then just do it!"

I probably wouldn't but I have no choice @_@ I didn't wear my retainer at night for the same reason, and I'm regretting it years later.
