I'm not sure if the guy is talking about a specific religion or just the supposedly religious aspect of marriage being a contract before 'a' god of whatever faith you happen to believe in. The one thing that is obvious from his diatribe though is that if you have no faith, you have no right to call your union a marriage. IN his very first post in the argument, before I even got involved, he declared "Non-religious people tend to not have any common sense either." So, me being an atheist, I can't legitimately say I'm married since I have no religious faith, and marriage being a religious sacrament.
Seriously? Is that guy like 'super-religious' or something. Because to be quite honest I'm an on-fire Christian, and I agree with you. It can be a civil or a religous thing.... Weird. I'm sorry that you have to deal with that crap.
MAL forums are a cesspool. They make our few irritating members at OB look tame, seriously. Also, marriage was a business arrangement, it never was a religious thing until later. Sounds like someone needs a history lesson. :p
I don't really understand how people can assert the inherent religious nature of marriage. I mean, first of all, what form of religion/spirituality are they even talking about? Not every part of the world revolves around their particular faith.

As soon as someone uses "history", "tradition", and "fact" in a sentence other than "History and tradition are so full of shit. Not facts.", then I brand them as a person unable to think for themselves.
Man, I so badly want to go there and argue with them. It's so much fun to argue with idiots like that.
Spamming of any sorts drives me insane -- just like chain mail. No, my Mum won't die if I don't send your message to seven other people. :3 I find that to be the worst.
Ugh. Spam. Who started the hugging GB signage on here, that's what I want to know. I'm all for hugs ^^ but not this 'you-have-been-hugged-now-go-and-pass-it-on' stuff.
