I saw the new layout earlier today and went "lolwhut?", but I'm sure with a little bit of time I'll figure it all out. Like you said, it's not that big of a deal. It's just the people who make it a big deal are oddly vocal, like any issue, really.

Edit: And now that I've seen it, I like it a lot. It looks more fresh, streamlined, and professional now.

So do I, and that's what others have said too. But most people are being all whiney about it, some have even made a club for anyone who hates the new version and wants the old one back. >>;

But in the case of MAL it isn't even that much of a change, just removing the left-hand links menu and putting everything in drop-down links up top.

It's like the Backroom set-up here. The link menu on the left side is gone and it's all been put up top in drop-down menus.

I'd have to log in and actually see it. Unless a design is pretty crappy, it's usually easy enough to adapt to the new one. But like I said, I haven't seen it yet.
