And but of course I have to comment on the music. lol Its a cool song. It had up until the breakdown. It was a little too isolated and hardcore for my taste, but a good song for the rest.
I'm trying to get through a bunch of my non-fiction stuff right now. With the new season of Doctor Who holding a lot of my focus, I've been a bit off the fiction books lately.
I've read Sam Harris's "Letter to a Christian Nation", although I have yet to read "The End of Faith". I like his writing, and enjoyed some of the points he makes on my Four Horsemen dvd (where he, Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and Christopher Hitchens have an off-the-cuff round-table discussion). And Kaku is one of my favorites. 8D Got a bunch of his books.
I'm not familiar with Shermer either, although the back of the book says he is a former fundamentalist Christian, so rather like Dan Barker, who wrote "Godless" and now actively debates with other fundamentalists.
It's good to know things went well, and may they continue to be so!
Man, you bought Sam Harris's The Moral Landscape and Michio Kaku's Physics of the Future!? That looks like some interesting and thought provoking reading right there. I've yet to read Harris's book, but I'm really interested in what he has to say on science and what it can say about morality, ethics, and values. And Michio is always fun!
I'm not too familiar with Shermer's work, so I'll have to check that one out. I'd like to see how he handles Darwinian theory. I remember watching The Genius of Charles Darwin by Dawkins and thinking: "Good Lord, how is it that he can make such an engaging topic so boring at times?" Don't get me wrong, I like some of his work and ideas, but sometimes it got a bit too self-involved on the "magnificence" of Darwinian theory - a magnificence that oddly mirrored religious feelings and devotion. Curious and puzzling.
Mmm books. I walked into a book shop today, but I managed to restrain myself from buying anything. I should go to the library instead... Have fun with those books :D
Yay for new Doctor Who, some of the clips from the trailer look really interesting...
