I haven't remarked much on your medical troubles because I feel rather ... useless about it. =/ There's not a lot I can do to empathise with what you're going through, so anything I've thought of saying just comes off as empty.
ALTHOUGH! Opeth is coming through my area here soon, and at the stop closest to me will be playing with Steven Wilson. April 28, my little notepad says. I'm kind of excited.
Windows 8 isn't the problem. I've got it on a tablet PC and its interface is very clean. The problem is that it isn't really well-designed for non-touch interface hardware. Because the touch-interface is structured into the OS so much, operating with only a mouse and without the ability to swipe back and forth and what feels sort of crippling.
On top of that, because Microsoft was so hush-hush about their software in the first place, there's very minimal support for lots of web-based things. I get the same comment issue you do when working from my tablet, so I can't post comments or replies from there. I have to do it from my desktop, which runs Win7. I can't watch anime online because there's no generic Flash support—only a list of so-called 'approved' sites where Flash is currently supported.
Firefox, to my knowledge, is still working on a Metro-styled browser, so until then I'm forced to use IE and be without Adblock. There's no Metro version of AIM, so I've taken to using Skype more often these days.
If you're curious, this is what I have. It's a nice setup, and not too horribly expensive. And the docking station allows me to do more writing-based work, although the touch keyboard isn't bad itself.
I made the original post when I'd just got home, so I wasn't feeling better yet. My stomach was still in knots and I was very tired from lack of sleep. But a few days home have helped revive me :)

I've always found myself in awe at just how either stubborn you are or at your strength in not givine up (choose the one that applys). You've gone through so much yet you continue to push on.
That's cool, man.
Glad you're feeling better.
Damn, Chaser. I return to the site after a long hiatus and see this. I hope all goes as smooth as possible, bro. I'll try to get some new Rush swag for you if I can get to the concert coming up in May.
That sounded very tiring. I hope it's not too taxing for you and your family. May all of you have (and give one another) the strength needed to make it through such things like that. Take care.

One of my best friends also has a lot of health issues and is forced to have frequent surgeries/hospitalizations, take medication that has unpleasant side effects and the like, so I sympathize. I hope that the healing process ends up being as stress-free as possible for you.

Oh my gosh! When I read this, I turned pale. I swear I felt faint when you were talking about your hand. I've had some pretty bad hospitalizations in my relatively short lifespan, but nothing like this! I wish you all the best in your recovery.
By the way, I know you don't know me, but I subscribe to you. I just don't think I've commented much, if ever.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

Stubborn is basically it. I've been through so much crap in my life I refuse to be bullied by it.
And holy crap my comments are working again!

Hey TC. Glad to read that you are getting better now, though reading your post prior to your edit was a bit worrisome.
