I also have a problem with channels that are supposed to be educational now airing shows that are devoid of any education whatsoever. I still want to find a way to get a petition going to get History Channel to cancel Ancient Aliens because its conspiracy theorist garbage and not history at all.
Exactly! I can't understand how there seems to be a general demand for more stupid and dangerous shows like those... Not to mention all these reality shows about literally the most stupid celebs (or even just stupid people in general XD). Ugh. Why on earth would we want to know what these people do in their daily lives?! It's basically all getting drunk and partying and... you know... Stuff like that o.O;
I know. It makes me worry, frankly. What does it say about the rest of the TV viewing audience, when they watch these shows in enough numbers to keep them on the air year after year?
I can't help but agree with you. I don't watch those shows myself, it just gets more and more stupid and brain-cell-killing XD It's just really sad that there's so much crap going 'round though...T_T
I feel for you. I'm beginning to believe they were right in Star Trek when they said TV as a form of entertainment didn't make it past the mid-21st century. It seems to be dying to me. Drowning in crap.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone has already done the idea as a parody. And it should have stayed that way. Who knows, maybe some TV writer or exec. saw that parody and suddenly thought it would make a good idea for a real show. >>;
I do the same, I keep to my specific roster of shows that I watch, but I am becoming less and less happy about how so much of TV is being crowded by crap concepts and terrible people who somehow get their own shows. Some good channels like Discovery and History are dying an ignominious death as they continue to add crap to their lineups and make less time for what they should be playing.

Well, if what I think is true, you haven't even seen the worst yet...
In the Netherlands, we had this show about celebs diving into the water - which ended with a few pretty stupid injuries, I might add - and now there's something new: celebs are attempting to ski-jump. God knows what'll be next...T_T
Wasn't "Diving with the Stars" an episode of a Comedy Central show that parodied various reality shows? Or was that "So You Think You Can Dive"? I forget. But I do remember a comedian doing a strange dive while riding in an "airplane" made out of a wheelchair and cardboard.
Yeah, just when you think reality shows can't get any more stupid, they throw something even more awful at you. I agree with your sentiments about life imitating bad art. And now I'm kind of glad that I don't own a TV.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
Dude, I have been telling everyone TV rots the brain. See. This new show is prof of that. I don't watch TV unless it is teaching me something or its an Anime (on DVD).
