My kind of town, Chicago. Still buzzing over this one. Copies of the Wednesday issue of the Chicago Sun-Times were going for $40.00 in some places. They are now going to be running a special edition thing on Sunday for people who want to collect a tangible piece of history.
I wish you and all of your fellow Americans the best in your efforts to bring positive change to this world. And I also wish the best for your country under the Obama administration.
It's already been a day already, and it's still unbelievable.

I hope that things will genuinely be different. The past 8 years have been pretty, well... unusual, to say the least. I hope things don't get screwed up even more than they already are...
Just letting you know, I'm not insulting you here, but just explaining some thing. ^^
No matter what the Founding Fathers believed personally, they were Secularists above all else. They had come from a society where Church and State were one and the same, and they knew it was not a system that would work to guarantee everyone their rights. Some of the Founding Fathers were Christian, although many were Deist, and some were very likely Atheist. BUT, they all accepted that people have a right to their personal beliefs.
The government is not in the business of dictating people's beliefs, but at it's best it will listen to people of all points of view and not any one over all the others. God is not meant to be in government in any one particular form, because that is not how the country was founded. You can still voice your opinion based on your beliefs, though. In all fairness, everyone should be able to do that and that's how we reach compromise, because my voice should be heard the same as yours and everyone elses.

Yes, some of the things he's promised sound awfully wonderful. But some of the other positions he's taken on certain issues are disconcerting. His obstinate pro-choice decisions are a little too radical for my tastes, someone who votes to not give healthcare to children that survive abortions just seems a little callous to me. And some of his ways to fix our economy don't seem fair to the hard-working people. His view on gun-control floors me, and healthcare makes me want to run for the hills. Don't get me wrong, I respect him as a leader because we're commanded by God to respect our leaders, and essentially our country is still founded on God. But, I am worried that God will be taken out of things. Who knows, I could be worrying needlessly, but until then I'll still voice my opinions.
Did you jump up and down and shriek when the results were announced? Cause I sure did... There was a pro-Obama MOB outside my dorm last night. It was pretty awesome. Some of my enthusiasm has waned with the passing of Prop 8. =( But I'm still TEAM OBAMA ALL THE WAY! YES WE CAN!
I'm glad you've found inspiration in him. I hope things work out well for you!

We totally can.
And like I've been commenting everywhere else: don't screw it up, now.
